I don’t mind us signing Whare for 5 years, a lot of the backend would probably be under the loyalty discounts, much the same as McKendry. As others have said, if he gets back to even 90% of where he was in 2014, he will once again be top 5 centres in the comp.

Just on long contracts - Roy Asotasi was robbing South blind for years. Went from best prop in the comp to a complete f**king dud. That has to be the one of the worst changes in form post-signing in recent memory.

Gus has never had an issue moving a player on when it’s not working. Every single player that’s signed and ended up surplus has been shipped out pretty quickly. personally I hope we go to our Bush boy in Isaah Yeo - very underrated and does exactly what you want as a captain, goes all day, plays 100%, I see him as a real long term captain for this club, but in saying that, we thought the same last year with Moylan so yeah.....

Agree on how Yeo handles himself on the field. But having heard him talk etc, not sure if he has that leadership quality just yet to captain the squad.

I think a lot will hinge on who our 9 is but unfortunately, at least to start the year, i think it will be Wallace.

We saw when Rein or Katoa were at 9, our forwards (especially Tamou) had a lot more room to move which allowed them to isolate defenders & offload or at least get us over the advantage line. With Wallace at 9, every time Tamou & co. got the ball they were swamped by 3 or 4 defenders as teams didn't have to worry about Wallace hurting them if he scooted from DH.
