I heard from a decent source that Kikau will be in our 17 from Rnd 1, & he’s even been training on an edge. This maybe because CHN is still injured but good signs.

CHN still isn't doing full training. Assuming we lineup as per Broncs semi. Kikau for Bryce on the bench keeps the balance good

Sounds like that could have been a good option if he hadn't got injured.

Hmm, I would have preferred leaving Blake in the centres but if we don't have any other options I guess that would be the plan. I just remember Blake/Whare being fish out of water when playing wing. :(

That's good news! We have plenty of workhorses and need an impact player. Watching him reminded me of both Waqa and Peachy playing in reserve grade, way too good to be there and just waiting for it to click and become a real good first grader.

Guess all will be revealed soon with our first trial coming up. Be interesting to see how they perform with all the off-season drama!

Bryce says he has been training in NSW Cup. So the rest of the guys would of seen it going.

Let's hope a back stands out in the trials and we bring in a new winger instead.

I think he gets the bench spot. Until he does dumb things like trying to play the ball while on his head he will stay in

In the past we have won both trials well and then lost the first few of the season proper and vice versa. You never want to lose a game of footy but they really dont mean much.
They mean nothing. Getting through them injury free is the most important part of a trial.

Look at our preseason last year. Between 9s and trials we were arguably the form team of the preseason. We were fighting Knights for last place 2 months into the season though.

I do notice ours has 3 grades set up in comparison to say the Broncos which was just a QLD Cup game.

Who do you guys want to see on the right wing in Rd 1 in Dallin’s place?
I know it’s likely to be Blake, but I’d love to see Crichton, Sivo, Eisenhuth or Aekins given a chance

My thoughts mirror yours. Might as well use our promising depth and give them some experience. It would also give us a specialist winger rather than a centre filling in.

Not to mention Blake struggles on the wing and Peachey is a defensive liability at centre.
Having one of those blokes slot straight in has less ramifications on the rest of our lineup and allows everyone to develop in their own role

DWZ a chance for round 1

Nathan Taylor‏@NateTaylor87

After speaking briefly with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak at the season launch on Wednesday, he's quietly confident he'll be right for Round 1 despite an ankle issue. He told me he was a "quick healer". Hook also said today via Panthers Media that DWZ is progressing well

I posted the Griffin interview if you can find it among the petty arguing in the rumors thread. He rates Crichton massively and DWZ possibly back + giving the half a full game. Really good interview.

I like it. Time for some sea snake stew.

Is Crichton part of the 30 now Cartwright is gone? Or are we keeping a spot up our sleeve?

As far as I know the top 30 is mandatory. I can't find him at all on the Panthers page but that could just be lack of IT support or something.

I don't know that he is. According to the clubs website we have 29 at the moment. Gould said he wasn't in a rush to fill Carty's spot when we lost him. Leaving the door ajar of maybe bringing someone in later on.
We have to have 29 by 1 March and 30 by June 30.

So we don't need a top 30 till mid year? That's interesting. I can see them making a young bloke really earn it.
