Not strictly true. With the injuries they had, they didn't have a lot of choice. He may not be NRL quality (not willing to offer an opinion either way yet) but he may be better than the other options they had in Qld Cup at the time. This idea that he was picked because he was brilliant and we let him go is rubbish. He played because the Cowboys were desperate and just like he did when he played for us, he did an OK job. Did he play well enough that other cubs would sack one of their halves for him? Hmmm. Bearing in mind he was playing in a team with arguably the form half of the entire competition and one that had recently won a grand final. Experienced hooker, 5/8th and fullback it was much easier for him there than at the Panthers.

The rest of the spine won the 2015 GF. It is far easier to do well in such situations

Well yeah you've got to then examine all the possibilities.

also the timing too. Say Des was going to be our next coach he likes forwards with size that ball play we have none of that. So we would waste this year trying to learn his style. I know plenty on here a negative but I hope Ciraldo doing more is a sign we want him to be next coach. He knows the players had results in juniors get him some experience around has to be better than a newbie that has no idea of the things in place

Particularly since we have 'gutted' the apparent problem children. Moylan and Cartwright. Peachey next to go.

So Hook has the squad he wants. Brought in experience, the team is a year older etc...allowances given. Lets see some results.

And yet we still have fans here who think finishing 7th or 8th would be acceptable, I just don't get that attitude at all, complete acceptance of mediocrity.

We had a couple of really good ball playing forwards but we just got rid of them because hook likes big boring players.

Who has said that for this coming season? I think most say more is needed this year

I think we would all love to go through undefeated and win the GF by 50 points. However, we might also finish 13th. Finishing 7th would be preferable to the latter.

Being a team that makes the finals on a regular basis cannot possibly be a bad thing. Especially while being a major resource of prime NRL player talent.

That is the 1st goal. Finals shouldn't be a special one off every 5 seasons or so

Exactly If Griffin takes us to the finals it will be the last 3 years this has occured. In recent memory.

Making the finals every year reguarly has to be the first goal. Everything after that is a bonus. This is something the club has not done reguarly in it's 50 off years.

(and before others start complaining), yes I do want the club to win the premership. But if you don't make the finals first, you don't get a chance for the big dance. It's called crawing before walking.

Most recent premierships have been built up to. These steps now should ensure we don't have a drop in the years after we win the comp

I had a quick look at the records and I believe it is the first time since 1991 when the Brandy/Simmo team qualified for the third time in a row. in 2003 we managed two years in a row. 26 years!!!

Fair point. Excluding the complaining part. No one here expected a premiership so we're agreed.

We just need to make sure we don't go backwards and we should be right to challenge for the prem in 2 years I reckon.

Crazy to think we don't look like missing the 8 in the next 5 years.
