just becoz music is popular and u dont like it- doesnt mean it is over-rated

neway- here is my top 5

1- led Zepplin
2- the doors
3- elvis presley
4- silverchair
5- ACDC

these bands were all crap and people just jumped on the bandwagon- there was nothing else to like- hippies just jumped on the first 2,

elvis was a weird dancer

silverchair used to be good but the new age stuff is carried by the past and acdc- meh

cheers

Is it illegal to have a musical opinion these days?

If they're as dumb as yours, then sure.

Awell, if sh*te haircuts and bubblegum pop music is your thing then so be it.

Elvis was responsible for crystallising what rock'n'roll was all about, and the list of good to great artists influenced by him (and disregarding his overall cultural influence) is endless.

Fair enough. But I still say he's overrated.

He didn't write his own stuff.
He didn't play an instrument.
Apart from his initial whirlwind impact, he never pushed any musical boundaries. He ended up regurgitating the same style songs over and over again. Just like Slim Dusty.

IMO.

His music is boring and repetitive.

Bollocks.

Unless you were expecting him to start rapping or breakdancing or something, Slim Dusty covered just about every sub-genre in country music at one time or another.

As for Elvis, he went everywhere from 50s rock and roll to country, blues and gospel and back. Regurgitating indeed.

Hey if it wasnt for Elvis, there wouldnt be Chuck Berry
If it wasnt for Chuck Berry, there wouldnt be The Beatles
If it wasnt for The Beatles, there wouldnt be Rolling Stones, Cream
If it wasnt for Cream, there wouldnt be Led Zepplin
If it wasnt for the Rolling Stones, there wouldnt be The Who
If it wasnt for the Who, there wouldnt be Jimi Hendrix
If it wasnt for Jimi Hendrix, there wouldnt Deep Purple, Black Sabbath
If it wasnt for Black Sabbath, there wouldnt be AC/DC
If it wasnt for ACDC, there wouldnt be Nirvana, Metallica
If it wasnt for Nirvana, there wouldnt be Green Day, Silverchair
If it wasnt for Green Day, there wouldnt be Living End
If it wasnt for Living End, AC/DC, Green Day, there wouldnt be Jet

I'm not saying most of these bands copied other bands' riffs or music, but they influenced other bands. The music changed in every era, Elvis started the change of not only Rock 'n' Roll, but also music. And so did other bands as the years went by.
