To be fair some of those mentioned have had 10 plus years experience over zac, so it goes without saying players like Croker and JMoz are better than him, especially when playing in top 4 sides (staggs would be a better comparison to zac). Although I do agree with some of your points, it's his first full year at centre so to say we wont see much more out of him or that he wont evolve any further is quite short sighted imo.
He may evolve but we can't afford to be carrying him and his errors in the NRL competition.

When reggies comes back next season he'll spend some time learning there. He may make it back

LMAO.

Dude, he made heaps of errors under heaps of pressure.

We had no game plan to create space for him to get good ball.

We have midgets for forwards compared to the raiders, and we are poorly coached with no game plan again.

I have not seen a team, do the same shit week in week out like the dragons.
Careful... you're talking about the basics of Rugby League there. Bringing forward play into it and the importance of having a solid and mobile pack goes against the prime belief that outside backs are responsible after a loss.

It's not soccer.

Turning over the ball 4 times in a single half changes momentum in a game.

As does falling off tackles, gaining 2 metres a hit up, making poor defensive reads and missing conversions.

It's not rocket science.

I believe that Lomax’s out- of - sorts display was more a case of the Raiders coach - aka Wicky Stuart doing his homework on how to stop the young Dragon .

Get in his face . He had his center go on a search and destroy mission every time that Lomax had the ball in his hands.

Quite simply it was the first occasion that Lomax has been so heavily marked by the opposition - and with good cause. Stuart knew he represented a danger to his team chances of taking home the points from the Gong , so he had his players pressure Lomax each time he received the ball .

Uncharacteristic errors came into the young Dragons game - he will learn from that , as all good players do .

Think your right Gareth67; hopefully that’s a learning legacy from yesterday’s loss.

Young seems to have no game plan and is unable to make adjustments mid game, just like Mary. It was clear to me that Lomax was heavily marked all through the game and needed to stand deeper in attack and the players inside him need to straighten and run through the gaps created when the Raiders were so heavily marking him. Instead his inside men were cramping him towards the side-line.

The Dragons were doing the one-out hit ups all day again making it easy for the Raiders to defend and gang tackle.

Correct and opposition coaches know that 99% of the time our forwards do not/can not offload so it puts no doubt in the minds of the defence. In other words we are very predictable and easy to coach against IMO.

He just looked off though, that doesn’t explain his goal kicking or his general body language. Not sure if he was sick, carrying injury or just plain over 2020 like the rest of us but while you are right he was definitely off.

100%, and in fairness to Young this has been going on for at least 5 years! Correction, apart from a semi against Brisbane...

Really it’s now that Zac was heavily marked? Ricky Stuart at a career 50% win ratio over his career has outsmarted the Dragons? Justin Olan, Manu, Crocker, MorrIs brothers, etc not forgetting former top line centres Inglis, Cooper, Gasnier to name a few were not heavily marked? Of course they were and every game. These guys just outplay opposition ‘markers ‘ regardless .

In fairness, Zac would go better at the Roosters, Melbourne Raiders who have built great rosters by better identifying cap spending and 3 rd party deals. But then the same can be said of the exciting Dufty (not a star) who would cherish the support opportunities behind big go forward packs.

Except our backs are our most effective metre eaters and in some cases our forwards have our most effective passing games.

Our so called game plan is Dufty out the back with either a pass to Zac or the cut out. The good coaches & players are able to nullify this which was evident yesterday. They don’t go left because it’s a waste of time as the play stops once it gets to Aitken who’s got no smarts about him. He for not the first time ran from dummy half on the last in an attacking position & died with the ball.

The difference between the elite centers that you have mentioned and Lomax is that they all had big solid bods . Lomax is still growing , however I was not excusing his poor performance in yesterday’s game , but merely offering reasons.

Undoubtedly there is no point singling out one individual on his under par game , more so when our so called forward pack , could not find their way to the closest pub if free beer was on offer .
