stumps called, England fall 3 runs short of Sri Lanka's world record of 509 runs in a day.

506 runs scored from 75 overs. Would've been interesting to see how many England could've got had they been given 90 overs.

Crazy run rate from England. Especially considering how mediocre their top 6 is on paper.

Pakistan playing 5 debutants, 3 of them front line bowlers

A 19yo leading the attack
The 3 debutants, one 30yo one 34yo (averages almost 38 in FC) and Rauf almost 30 (who has only played 8 FC games)

Could say worst attack Pakistan have fielded in their history. Throw in a concrete deck, then volia ! Marcus Harris would score a triple

I'm not sure it's going to start a revolution but good on them for trying this approach. They'll do well on a lot of pitches that give very little assistance to bowlers.

Exciting cricket is a fair battle between ball and bat, not batsmen dominating on wickets that provide nothing. Or bowlers dominating on feather beds or green tops. That will be the reaction to bazball, home teams will start preparing (or doctoring) pitches that are so bowler friendly that slogging won't help you.

Dustbowls actually is entertaining to watch as something is happening all the time.

Though we don't need them for every test. Once a series is fine.

Going off for bad light when the team has scored 500 in 75 overs is peak cricket.

Can I congratulate PB on this thread not being all in capitals unlike Baggers effort in the Aus v WI thread.

Not a criticism Baggers but lift your bloody game son.

They are definitely riding a wave of good form as well. Root is a great player and always scores runs, and Stokes has these types of innings in him. Where they will struggle is when the likes of Bairstow, Crawley, Pope etc lose a bit of form and revert to the mid-30s average they have for most of their careers.

On the flip side is, Home countries want 5 day tests for the coin.

Bairstow, Head, Pant etc all play aggressive cricket down the order. They can steal the game when the bowling attack and fielders become tired. But ideally they have the ability to occupy when necessary. Long way to go until they are Gilly level.

This was a bit more unusual. Game is already over after 75 overs.
