Walker won't be going anywhere imo.Souths have already said they are prepared to review his contract as well as saying he will not be released early.Don't worry they realise how important he is to their side & will be willing to discuss thi, unlike the dragons who just look at the bottom line.

Lol. You realise Cody Walker signed a 2 year extension late last year, so if this report is true, his salary demands are even more prima donna-ish, especially for a guy who has never played rep or finals football . You realise this, right? Tell me you're not that dumb
You keep telling yourself that!you do realize just about every player that's moved recently has broken a contract you do realize that don't you tell me you're not that dumb you do realize I said he'd be way cheaper and not paid like a rep player hence the value aspect tell me you're not that dumb!

Doust has always been one for going for the most economical option. Millward would be in discussions with Doust because he is in over his head and wants some help to get through this mess.

Cody Walker is not a like for like or better option. He is not even a fullback. Buy him for right centre and maybe you are on the mark. If we could get him prior to Jun 30, we could play him instead of McCrone.

I reckon most halves that are oncontract already for 2018 are ready to pull this sort of move considering the enormous salary increases for halves signing contracts in 2017.

Article today on Maloney who is peeved about about his current contract too. I reckon most halves are trying to renegotiate their contracts right now and threatening to walk.

I think there are plenty of options for Dugan's replacement and a couple for Packers replacement. What I will say is that the fullback position is a spine positon and very important to our success next year.

As our whole success this year has been on the back of our forwards, we need to ensure we do not lose any capability when Packer moves on next season.

NRL is a backwater. Contracts mean nada. In The NFL there is a Free Agent window that begins AFTER the season ends that is from March 8-9. Prior to that window opening no team can negotiate with either a contracted player OR Coach - including assistant coaches. Talking to any player OR coach under contract is labelled tampering and meets with very punitive sanctions such as removal of draft picks and heavy fines. The NRL is idiotic all they need do is impose these rules and this nonsense will end. They have an idiotic "free market" ideology here that brings instability and chaos to fans and teams BUT is supported by players and managers. Commissioner Roger Goodell has often described the NFL as a form of Socialism that works very well. The only discussion of player movement during the season revolves around whether the existing team can afford to keep a specific player given their likely salary demands and the team's Cap Space.

The Dragons should resign Mann and give him the number one jersey... He is a real footballer, skilled , defensively sound and possesses speed...[/QUO
Well imagine what he might be now as a fullback if they had of kept him in that position last year . Instead of flicking him after round 2 . He is now a player with no fixed position and will probably move on to a club with a clear idea of what they want him for . I don't think our club rates him very high and his best will be seen elsewhere .

Hey Mickeylane, us this a good signing? I don't watch Rabbits games, I can't stand them and they way they play.
He plays winger for them right? Can he play fullback?

Have you seen him play fullback? Cody Walker can't catch a bomb and is a 6 and they prefer him over AJ who has been given every opportunity since GI went down. He is a very good winger but a long way from fullback and a long way from being worth $700k a season. The modern game needs a ball player at the back, give Dufty a go in rd15 and see how he goes.

Don't pay overs for wingers and don't pay overs for props.

Esp. When we have a crop of youngsters excelling in both positions who need a crack in the top grade very soon or will inevitably start looking elsewhere.

Realistically we have no idea what they are paying these players. So it's completely irrelevant to speculate on contract negotiations seeing as not even our coach is privy to that information.
