Just read some statements from Bird and when you hear players starting to say things like I gotta do what's best for me and my family the alarm bells start ringing.

There is a very good reason Townsend, Bird and Graham haven't signed yet.
The Club and players have big differences of what dollar values they should be at. The players aren't budging on their asking at present.

Apparently Parramatta are offering Bird $900k per season and we have offered him $2million for 3 years.

To be honest I think for where Bird is currently at with his career at the Sharks, the money the Sharks are offering is what is closer to the mark of what he is truly worth. But you get desperate Clubs like Parra and Newcastle and they distort the market.

At the end of the day the Club is trying to keep building a "team". If players want to chase maximum bucks you have to take a stand and say that's our offer and we believe it to be fair value for both parties. What is worse? Losing a player or losing the ability to build a formidable team?

You won't build a team by over paying on 3 or 4 players. And last w/end I didn't see too many million dollar a season players.....

What stuffed this all up, was the Dragoons paying Hunt a king's ransom, and every half back since who can pass a ball either way, says" What about me I'm worth a motza".Plus of course the xtravaganza paid for Dale take my cherry Evans.
Only 3 players should be paid overs Holmes check,Graham and Bird,but by overs not the monopoly money being thrown around by Parra/Cowboys and Dragoons.
It's going to be nigh impossible for the Tigers to retain al four of their best, with this confetti being thrown around.
The Mr 7%ers must be laughing all the way to their investment properties.

the actual salary cap is the issue to me.

it should be closer to 10 mil in my opinion.(maybe more)

and the nrl should be giving better long service discounts.
