Do you honestly believe North Queensland cannot offer him (and his wife for that matter, who already works for the club) that?

Whatever happens will happen, but you Penrith supporters need stop dreaming up reasons to convince yourself JT will sign with your club.

We can dream as much as we want, if it is making you upset thats your problem, and I doubt the Cowboys can offer the same post career oppurtunities as we can with Goulds channel 9 connections and the supposed AFL/NRL war going on in the heartland(Western Sydney).

In saying that the cowboys can offer many things that we can't, like family etc.

After the last few months we need something, even if it is only a dream. You can untwist your panties though, I dont think JT is going to base his future on the comments of this forum.

Although just to be safe. If you read this JT come to the Panthers its nice in Penrith.......................

I certainly don't believe NQ will be able to offer him the dollars Penrith will.

Why do people think, that even if he wants to work in the media, that JT has to finish his career in Penrith or need Gus to help him get a job at Channel 9 (or anywhere else for that matter). Im pretty sure a player of his calibre will have media opportunites coming out of his ears, regardless of where he finishes his career and regardless of Phil Gould.

Wow, if we are talking JT, then that's alot of opportunities. Best ears in the biz. :D

Im sure he can get a media gig on his own. But finding a job after you retire is not the same as having one as part of your last contract....if that is even what is being offerred.

If he does want a TV job after his career then signing with Gould, a high profile channel 9 personality who apparently has a good relationship with the channel 9 CEO is surely attractive to him.

Do think he wants to spend 3 hours on a plane every Thursday night to be on the footy show panels? Or the same on a Sunday? Compare to an hours drive

We are building a $850m academy at Panthers. He can be both the halves coach and the indigenous welfare worker there.

So there's plenty of things for him to try before retiring. Get a nice property out near Bringelly and it's like country.

That said He has family and friends in QLd and no amount of money will bring them down. So I think he will stay up there

I have nothing against JT going to Penrith, but it isn't a place that players historically go to retire.

Thats true Packy but money talks. Or atleast it might in this case, I am not overly confident of signing him.

Just pulling this up to avoid confusion. The licenced club is set to develop the land (primarily where the carpark is now) with mixed retail/commercial/residential worth $850m. The Halves academy is part of this redevelopment, stage 1 in fact (being built behind the current licenced club). No reported cost but it is set to be financed, at least in part, by different levels of government.

What makes anyone think 9 will have the rights when Thurston retires?
What makes anyone think channel 9 would want Thurston,he doesnt seem particularly bright
dont we already have enough brain dead footballers like Fittler,A Johns and Geyer on 9 as it is.

give me sterling, matty johns, lockyer (he's getting more comfortable with it and has a bit between his ears) - although he's not a footballer, voss

take those 4 over any of those other wastes of space any day

I think you will find the commercial/retail/residential is up near Westfields on the end of High st opposite the council chambers (all that land next to the old person home) Hence the objection from them and High st businesses.

The fact still remains we need an indigenous welfare officer (and Pacific islander etc), Halves coach for the academy
