Round 6 vs Roosters

JWH takes on the defence every time he gets the ball. According to the stats Joe Paulo only runs the ball on about one third of his touches. That means two thirds of the time he is passing the ball before the line.

That's more of a half than any kind of forward, hey? Don't be fooled by the number 13. With three halves on the field, the 6 and 7 jerseys aren't enough. But I never once saw Paulo lock a scrum.

Don't be fooled bro, I seen jwh pass the ball a few times before the line.

That has been the problem with our mindset the last few years, our forwards have been afraid to pass at the line. Paulo makes us less predictable.

have they been afraid to or just been told don't do it because many league coaches have the mindset of "winning games comes from completing sets and you complete sets by just lugging the ball out one up"? - which makes your attack fairly one dimensional and predictable so the opposition use less effort in working to stop it.

i am really enjoying the style arthur's' has the side playing. seems to have a good mix of everything and when the ball is moved around it sticks.

Some of our attack this year has been jaw-dropping - Hopoate's disallowed try against Penrith is a prime example.

Don't remind us of Kearneys one out shit.

Pou and I have been saying this for over a year now

I only said it because you did mate. I thought he was playing lock.

"He needs to tuck the ball under his arm and f**ken run!"

Also, cover defence from the back of the scrum.

wasnt too impressed with Kelepi in his 3 weeks in first grade, i know he was coming back from injury though.. how has he done in NSW cup the last couple of weeks?? And more importantly who do you drop to fit him in?

Lussick would be in for Allgood i'd say, and Mossop for Gower?

BA wasn't either which is why Kelepi was sent back to NYC.
However BA openly admitted that it wasn't Kelepi's fault but rather BA's and that he (BA) f**ked up by putting Kelepi into FG when he did. Missing the whole off season meant that Kelepi wasn't where he needed to be with regard to the playbook and in particular the changes BA has made to the defensive style.

Sending Kelepi back to NYC will give both game time and a better understanding of the style of both defence and attack BA wants. I would expect him back in the next 6 weeks or so.

Good on BA for saying that. I wonder if he really thinks that or he was just saying it to take the pressure off Kelepi?
Either way, good on him. He's a bloody champion bloke from all that I hear.

Our forwards seem to lack off-loading ability. Gower threw a beauty to Norman but that is about it. We could be deadly from 2nd phase play if we could only get some going.

That may have been down to tactics given the conditions. I seem to remember a few against the nags.

Agree ME.
At the time he said it he was by all appearances being very honest and his words gave me nothing to think he wasn't taking full responsibility for f**king up the selection.

I'd consider Feleti Mateo, Corey Parker and Trent Merrin to be ball playing back rowers. These guys all take on defenders and then offload the ball.

Joseph Paulo usually passes before the line, with option runners. Just like a half. Unlike a half he is not a primary kicker.

In alot of set plays, Paulo definitely plays middle half. He gets it as first receiver then out to Sandow and then Hayne.

If only another role at the club became available........

I spoke to DA before the season started and asked him his role. He stated he works directly with BA, identify where they lack some talent. It's then his job to speak to managers or clubs, searching for said talent.

Maybe Nolan's role is going to be superseded by Anderson's.
