Lol...all the same players that said Price has what it takes....

yep, it's easier to coach for half a season after the previous coach was incompetent & had lost all confidence of the entire playing group.

Can he take on the role from November in pre-season training ? Also, it's more likely that existing players will be able to help sign new players as McGregor is largely unknown to those non-Dragons players & unproven as a coach. If it comes down to a choice between the Dragons & another club there appear to be more negatives / unknowns than positives.

It needs to be a teammate at rep level ( either NSW, NZ or England ) who can really help in this area. Hopefully Widdop can assist with a top class forward who possesses the qualities of James Graham or Sam Burgess and any NRL club could build a title winning pack around.

That player's on-field contributions plus his ability to help others develop & also that would have an ongoing effect with quality players choosing to join the club. Now they just need to find one !

Would gladly take Griffin, he has done quite well with a Bronco's team that isn't all that great this year.

Not heard too many great things about Griffin from those that have to deal with him on a regular basis(except the usual tripe dished out by the papers).
I believe there are some management and communication issues but also, he's not a real strong tactician.
He seems like a nice enough bloke and I reckon the current Broncos squad should probably be doing much better than they are. It's a no from me at this stage.
Good luck to him, NRL coaching is not for everyone.

He may not be a strong tactician, but he has been instrumental in the development of a few of their younger players. McCullough, Hunt, McGuire, Copley have all developed well under his watch, and I am sure he could assist in the development of many of our younger players.

I would rather Mary than Griffin. If Saints go for Sheens, Brian Smith, Neil Henry or Nathan Brown I would be rapt. THese guys will put the team forward. If they went for Sheens or Smith I would only go a 2 year deal as I cannot see then as long term sollutions but will rebuild the junior structures and upskill the coaches e.g Hornby & Young. If Browny or Henry give them 3 years. They are younger and more long term propositions.

If Mary give him 1 year with and option for an additional year. Same for any other rookie they may go for. They can announce any contract extensions on Anzac day........Please no....That game has now been tarnished.

I think Hasler's contract expires end of 2015.
Offer him $1.1 per season but do it now. Get him to agree now ! If he agrees, great. Keep Mary for a season and if the Bulldogs get upset, release Hasler immediately to us for 2015.

Do the same with Bellamy....

If not, chase Daley and Parish hard.
(I'm running out of ideas)

One of the reasons Sheens was released by the Tigers was because of his handling of the junior ranks. Apparently he was only interested in the FG squad and gave little to no thought to developing young players.

GOOD! that's what this club needs to do. lm sick of all this, worried about juniors and our 1st grade team sucks, you know why? because the club goes on about this so called junior system and where are they getting us? 12th place, excellent. We need 1st grade success as that is what clubs are judged on. might as well just do what Manly and Roosters do, Buy the talent from the sucker clubs that breed them and you don't have to worry about a junior system.

Paul McGregor, without a shadow of doubt, in my opinion, is the perfect fit, as the long term head coach of the St George Illawarra Dragons.
McGregor has the best interests of the Dragons at heart, he is red and white, through and through.
McGregor has served a lengthy apprenticeship in may aspects at the Dragons, not only playing at the highest level, but also many support and co-ordination roles within the club.
During his coaching tenure with Wests Illawarra, his club literally won every conceivable award, for the three seasons he was at the helm.
At the Illawarra Cutters, McGregor had a disruptive weekly roster, as such is the nature of the feeder competition, but still preformed admirably under the circumstances.
I've noticed, just in the short period of time that McGregor's been charge of our NRL team, that there's definitely more structure, purpose, direction and confidence within the playing roster.
Our players seem to be "buying into" McGregor's coaching theories.
I now get the impression, that there seems to be a feeling that our players now feel personally responsible when losing a game, they don't want to let their coach down.
McGregor certainly has that "aura" about him, of respect and mutual trust.
I have observed a coach that is forthright honest in his assessment of our team and individuals and is articulated in communicating with the media.
I also have no doubt, that if McGregor is given the opportunity, he may well built our club as a long term force in the NRL.

St Helens is going great with Nathan Brown leading them too first place, I would like doust too wait until both comps are completed, before deciding the dragons coach, I am sure if St Helens wins the comp Browny would be worth given another go with us, with Mary his assistant.
Browny may bring some forwards with him!

Even if he doesn't win, I'd take him back without a second thought! Hes proven he can coach teams to the top, winning the big one takes a huge effort and a fair bit of luck. I've no doubt he can do it in his career.

I'd like Nathan brown back too, but I think doust is spooked by the previous experience.
Brown would be a perfect fit.......he too bleeds red and white like Mary, only difference is, brown has 12 seasons experience of coaching at the top level.

With the announcement that Matt Parish is leaving the raiders, will he end up at the Dragons?
