Bulldogs are grubs?

I know I certainly enjoyed watching Ennis leave the ground for his last Dogs home game with barely a Dogs fan in sight to clap him.
You may well have enjoyed it but personally I think you're f**ked.

Dislike his footballing all you like, dislike the way he plays the game etc etc, that's fine. Once he's off the park get real - let his fans say goodbye. The way Bunnies fans attempted to drown out his speech was utterly disgusting.

As for barely a Dogs fan I could see several thousand who stuck around in addition to the Bunnies fans.

People ask why we're the least penalised team this season. I think it's because we treat the referees with respect. Maguire has never complained about a ref's performance in his 76 press-conferences so far in the NRL. Sutton is one of the quietest captains in the comp.

     STOP STOP STOP LOL

No really? So when he went on a rant last night about the refs letting Ennis chat too much... that wasn't complaining about the refs performance?

Take care not to exceed your daily quota.
WHEN (not if) Souffs receive their 7th penalty next week they will become the first team in the NRL era (1998 - ) to receive 200 penalties in a regular season.

Record breakers! Forever in their refereeing shadow.

Someone is trying REALLY hard to end Souffs Premiership drought.

You're mob have been suspended for all manner of crushers, chicken wings, spear tackles and lashing out with the legs in the last few weeks alone.

So we don't need a lesson in discipline from you.

But again, just for you, I'm focusing on penalties RECEIVED not conceded.

I never said we were angels! As for penalties received, so what? If one team is more ill-discipline on the day then that team should get their game in order! I'd be more worried about my teams own discipline than trying to play for penalties. As it is I think the refs already adjudicate is manner that see them award "evening up the count" penalties for fear of being blasted by the coaches. By having an even penalty count is alot harder for opposition coaches, the media, players, fans etc. to say that the ref is biased against a particular team. Last night was a good example. If you went through the Souths vs Dogs game, you could come up with another 4-6 penalties that could have been awarded to Souths but weren't because of what I believe is a fear that the referees have on blown out penalty counts. Just ask Ashley Klein who blew a 7-0 penalty count against the Storm when they played the knights a few weeks back and look what happened to him!

As a fan of an opposition team I hate Michael Ennis, but I think you have to respect him for the passion and commitment he displays for his team. He is definitely a leader on the pitch and someone who gives 100% all the time. I also hear and believe he is a very very decent bloke off the field which is a good thing. I also think he will make an excellent commentator, pundit etc and I think he provides alot of good insight when he gets on Fox.

With regards to Michael Maguire speaking about Ennis' badgering of the referees, Maguire didn't go on a rant or anything of the sort. All he said was that he attended a coaches meeting at the start of the year when it was agreed that there would be a rule where captains were not allowed to speak to the referees at scrums and penalties and that the NRL needed to have a look at enforcing the rule. He didn't bag out the referees or criticise their performance; he just mentioned that the rule was not being enforced.

When it comes to Ennis, if I was a coach on the opposition side I'd specifically tell my players to lay down feigning injury anytime Ennis did anything, even if there was nothing in it. Eventually he'd start getting pinged for something, and I reckon he'd stop pretty quickly.
And this ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why the game has gone soft!

Meh, the dickhead only has 1 more game in the blue and white, 2 if he's lucky. He'll go to the Sharks next year where he'll be forgotten about and retire a loser.

The worst part about all this is we're still going to be seeing his head on the fox commentary team.

It's interesting what people on this forum define as a "grub". In my opinion a grub is a football player who hits his girlfriend or a footballer who gets sent home from a tour for bringing a girl (who isn't his wife) back to his hotel room or possibly even footballers who associate with known criminals.

Ennis niggles and is a pest but there are substantially bigger "grubs" playing the game.

You're entitled to your opinion.

At the end of the day, it wasn't my club who axed it's captain in favour of a younger model when all he was asking for was a two year contract (probably at a reduced rate) to finish up.

If he was so important to the Dogs and Dogs fans, he'd still be there next year.

Anyway, glad we could send him off with a loss. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bloke or club. Can't wait to see your assessment of his performance when the Sharks play you next year. Should be very entertaining.

His opposite number last night once admitted to trying to break his cousin's leg

He was fantastic last night. Truly a pleasure to watch. This thread just adds to the enjoyment.

Niggle is one thing. Admitting to trying to break someones leg or squeezing someones balls.. now they are real grub acts.

To think the Dogs have let their inspirational leader go and replaced him with Licha...

Reynolds still has so much to learn before he can assume Ennis's mantle.

Lol,
your best player likes to BITE , but hey that is ok for Bulldogs.
Then lacked the balls to admit it , that is also fine for Bulldogs fans like you.

Tripping is fine also for Dogs. I will not go further as it will be in LOW tastes , however you should be ashamed to try and point fingers. But i guess you are a Dog fan.

yeah not complaining at all, sorry you must have missed his 75th last week...

It was a blatant obstruction,? Maguire says.
?It makes me wonder why they just don?t check everything these days.
?That was one that definitely needed checking he (McQueen) was taken out.?
?I?m not quite sure how you get a penalty out in front of the posts when it?s (the indiscretion) in the in-goal,? Maguire continues.
?It should be a penalty try as far as I understand but I?d have to check the ruling on that one.?

Exactly right , thanks for picking out the only case i can remember.
And he was right. In my books that is not a whinge ,it is a clear statement of a specific case which was seen by ALL. Folks can take their own position on these facts , however interesting that in the days that followed the NRL has opened discussion on a "video bunker" trial for 2015. So appears the NRL also agreed with Maguire that a real issue occurred.

Why was one of Ennis's kids crying last night and refusing to run through the barrier with him? Does anyone know? . Was he embarassed to be seen with the grub?

Isaac Luke may well be a grub, other players being grubs doesn't mean Ennis isn't the Exalted Lord Grub. Everyone was well within their rights to boo his farewell speech. He 100% brought it upon himself with his prolonged grubbiness. You earn respect, you don't just have it thrust upon you. Fits in perfectly with a coach that only opens his mouth to whinge about something and a 5/8 who has the mentality of a 4 year old.

Can someone do a Ennis record on how many times he's been suspended for grub acts.
Maybe one for a few of the other grubs as well
Hayne, Slater, Gallen , Sandow ect.
Be interesting to see how bad Ennis actually is.
