Bulldogs are grubs?

People ask why we're the least penalised team this season. I think it's because we treat the referees with respect. Maguire has never complained about a ref's performance in his 76 press-conferences so far in the NRL. Sutton is one of the quietest captains in the comp.

On the other hand, look at Toovey, Hasler, and Stuart: if you treat referees with disdain, you will be more heavily penalised. The only exception to a degree is Robinson.

Are we the least penalised team? I don't know the statistics but on face value, I would have said that our discipline is one area we need to work on! I actually still think we need to work on not giving away 2-3 quick penalties within the first 10 minutes of games and putting ourselves on the back foot!

People are going to say we're biased but I agree with what you say about Maguire handling refereeing controversies very well. Very rarely does Maguire lose it with the referees in the post match press conference. Even last week, when we had two shocking decisions go against us, he didn't go on a rant about the quality of refereeing. Last night, he again calmly dealt the issue of poor refereeing. I thought he really played down the issue of Ennis constantly badgering the referee and only pointed out that at the start of the year he attended a coaches meeting where it was decided that captains were not allowed to talk to refs at scrums and penalties.

yeah not complaining at all, sorry you must have missed his 75th last week...

It was a blatant obstruction,? Maguire says.
?It makes me wonder why they just don?t check everything these days.
?That was one that definitely needed checking he (McQueen) was taken out.?
?I?m not quite sure how you get a penalty out in front of the posts when it?s (the indiscretion) in the in-goal,? Maguire continues.
?It should be a penalty try as far as I understand but I?d have to check the ruling on that one.?

Rubbish, Ennis is constant and in all facets of the game. Gobbing off to refs, dirty niggle in the tackle, mouthing off to players, little grubby sly digs when a player is on the ground. I would have counted at least 15-20 episodes of grubbiness from him last night. Those other players you might get 2-3 a game if that. He has taken grub to a whole new level and stands alone proud on top of the pedestal.

Ah yes, Isaac Luke doesn't do facials. He doesn't twist ankles. He doesn't hold on in tackles and get involved in every little push and shove that he can

Souths are the biggest grub team in the comp. Look at how many of them rushed the sideline last night when Johnston as bundled into touch simply because the winger who drove him there gave him a bit of a pat on the back. If they don't rush in trying to puff out their chests like f**kwits then Ennis doesn't even get involved to start shoving the woman basher (you'll have to guess which one, there is a selection)

Like I said every team has one or two, accept the Warriors struggling to think of much grub in that team, but Ennis takes it to a whole new level.

I think the reason Souths are least penalised is because they get away with a lot more than other clubs. Whether that comes down to respect for the referees is anyone's guess.

To a degree?

Robinson is an ornament to the game and is ultra respectful of the refs.

Even after an 11-2 penalty count vs Manly this year he remained pretty calm.

We treat the refs with enormous respect - even Mini does on the field - but it doesn't stop them from shitting on us.

It's not just the penalties you guys don't concede... but also the ones you receive.

Last night was the 12th time this year you've received 9+ penalties. We've received 9+ penalties in a game once, way back in Rnd 2 lol

12 times with a huge number of penalties received vs 1. That seems a bit extreme IMO.
Minichiello and Robinson treat the referees with respect; I'm not so sure that your idiotic front rower, Waerea-Hargreaves treats the refs with respect though, especially after he got sin binned for swearing at the referee against the Knights. The roosters have had discipline problems for years and I think it all stems from Waerea-Hargreaves. He is their pack leader and I think he sets the tone when it comes to aggression, line speed in defence, the physical side of things etc. Unfortunately, JWH can't control himself on the football field and that is part of the reason why you guys never win penalty counts. The funny thing is the roosters have virtually done nothing to address their poor disciplinary record; it likes they don't even care!

Souths are nowhere near the least penalised (in fact we're about the 6th-7th most penalised). We do however, receive the most penalties - for obvious reasons.

Souths aren't the least penalised.

But they have received, heading into this round, 23 more penalties than anyone else!

We've received 20 fewer than anyone else loooooolololll

I think to say that he has never complained would be an exaggeration. I think what he meant to say was that Maguire remains alot calmer and respectful in answering questions about refereeing issues than alot of other coaches do.

You're mob have been suspended for all manner of crushers, chicken wings, spear tackles and lashing out with the legs in the last few weeks alone.

So we don't need a lesson in discipline from you.

But again, just for you, I'm focusing on penalties RECEIVED not conceded.

Michael Ennis is clearly the nicest captain to the refs.

What other captain thanks referees for their feedback and their control of the game?

I would never have known that the Rorters received the least penalties if Tommy Smith didn't mention it 300 times a day.
Thanks Tommy, keep up the good work.

How do you beat Souths? Stop our forwards. How do you stop our forwards? Slow down the ruck. What happens when you have a constant focus on slowing down the ruck? You give away penalties. It's pretty obvious.

The Roosters don't receive penalties because no-one likes you

Oh please...........

He's role is to wind up the opposition and if they're too thick to see it then they have to accept it. His tactics worked a treat against the August Premiers last night.
even the refs acknowledged that when one said, you are reacting how he wants you to, to adam reynolds about ennis.

He is quite complimentary towards the refs. And generally he is pretty respectful as well. Its just a shame that he carries on like such as dickhead during the run of the game. What it shows is that he make such a conscious effort to niggle, because he is, by all reports, a decent bloke.

Someone like Josh Reynolds on the other hand, is just a deadshit thug who just doesn't know any better.

Not sure which is worse.

When it comes to Ennis, if I was a coach on the opposition side I'd specifically tell my players to lay down feigning injury anytime Ennis did anything, even if there was nothing in it. Eventually he'd start getting pinged for something, and I reckon he'd stop pretty quickly.
