Is it really such a good thing to have so many Kangaroo games that players say "f*ck it, i play next time..."?

When's the last time that happened with an Olympic spot or a Soccer World Cup position.

To much exposure devalues the brand. The Roos jersey should be the f*cking Holy Grail of RL.

(* The Indigenous team in the international competition is just a side thought considering the All Stars game has lost most of its steam and dividing Australia into a few teams would increase competitive chances)

1. Way off topic now
2. No evidence anyone is saying "eff it I'll play next time"
3. Wallabies play way more than us, no one accuses their players of not valuing the jersey because it isn't scarce enough
4. Socceroos field all sorts of teams depending on the competition and location, such as exclusively europe based player friendlies, or conversely, sometimes the team is made up of A-league players only, no one complains
5. Even if you argue that the jersey isn't being respected (which I disagree with)...the answer isn't to hide it away, it's to cut down the NRL season and give the players more time so that they can play for Aus AND still fit in offseason surgery to enable them to play for their clubs round one next year (ie. the people who pay their wage). Also playing more raises the standard making it more competitive, more watched, therefore more money, more media respect.
6. See point 1, way off topic

So many kangaroo games?? Wtf. They play like 2 tests a year then MAYBE a four nations. Didn't even have a 4 nations the 12MONTHS before the World Cup, which is an absolute joke.

2 in Aus & 1 to promote the game (& our bond with kiwis) over there should be mandatory on ANZAC day.

Can't understand we it needs to be played in Melbourne.

Warriors are really pushing for the ANZAC game between the Storm to be played as a home. If they can convince the NRL they plan to take it to the bigger Eden Park Stadium and go all out inviting the Armed Forces and RSA. Make a real day of it with half time displays and all. Apparently the Storm dont do much with the fixture apart from the obligatory pre-match observations and final post bugle call.

Thing is if they get their wish they plan on releasing an ANZAC jersey (to add to the other 25 they will release next season SMH). From the description Ive been told it'll look similar to the Tigers one with the silhouette but it will depict the ANZAC memorial at Gallipoli. Last time I spoke to someone about it it was still being drawn up so who knows what the final product will look like or if in fact it will even be released???

That's not correct, there is quite a lot of armed forces participation and ANZAC themed stuff in the pre-match leadup.

Its there biggest crowd of the year, to take this game off Melbourne would be a huge step back for League in the City. Its the one "event" game they have.

Im not sure what the Storm draw normally in Auckland, but I reckon its a lot less than the 25K or so they get in Melbourne for the Warriors.

This is typical Rugby League for mine, see something good and lets f**k it up.

The reason its a success is because the Warriors, not because of ANZAC. Its the kiwis that fill that stadium. The stadium the Warriors want to play it at has a 50,000 seat capacity. Kind of sh!ts on 25,000 TBH.

As long as the Storm get to host the Warriors then they wont lose out as the same kiwi fans will show anyway. Melbournes biggest 'home' crowds are always against the Warriors. When we arent in town League goes back to being a Melbourne nothing sport as per usual...

Officially ruined jerseys at the hands of Meriton's branding. The black bars on the ANZAC and Heritage kits have destroyed those kits. Nothing worse than a company forcing solid colour banding.

sooooo this year they wanted a sort of rebrand, a new start- make 2 jerseys that are neither magpies nor balmain, 2 new jerseys that will fix up the past few years mishaps and create a 'one team' jersey, now after ONE SEASON they got rid of one of the jerseys, are they serious???
im really hoping the white/grey alternate is realy just an "alternate' and not the away, and the orange just wasn't ready for this photo...

Im not saying "dont play internationals" and im not saying "dont have an Aussie team", im saying add a bit of percieved value to the Kangaroos jersey by making it scarce...

The Green and Gold Chevrons is the symbol of RL in Australia, its on the badge of every major jersey. So, in turn, it should be something players would kill to run on in. If it was only worn every 4 years in World Cup tournaments, then the opportunity to wear it might only come around a few times in a given career. It would become something players dream of above SOO.

Not to say that Australia shouldnt play in the international scene, just not in that jersey. Id like to see it broken into 2 teams (the Indigenous national team and a chairmans XIII).
This would keep the Indigeous concept alive even if the All Stars game dies, but it doesnt damage the Roos jersey by making it a "White Australia" Jersey; the Roos would represent a United Australia.

(Having 2 strong Aussie teams duking it out cant be a bad thing, its not like Australia need MORE help)

From what I have heard the orange is gone. It didn't sell well and has been replaced by the grey (as an alternate rather than away).

hmm how strict are they going to be with that. week after week we see teams that don't clash with anybody using a white jersey...

Can't believe it's been 20 years... I remember when they came in and I didn't even know where Auckland was. so I asked my mum and she said nz and I was pretty annoyed.

They might have decided an orange jersey with a black V was still to "Balmain"....

I actually quite like the grey. Nothing special, but well done. Id rather it was just a training jersey or 9s, but still it could be worse.
