What consistency? You want the most minor matters to be dealt with the same severity as the most extreme transgressions? Where is an example of someone in the NRL doing a similar thing and getting a bigger punishment?

Paul Gallens Tweet got a worse punishment. That is a minor incident, getting arrested is a bit more serious than that.

Are people seriously suggesting souths didn't know Luke Burgess paid the bouncer off?

Richo 'hey Luke what happened with the charges in America'

Luke 'the guy dropped them'

Richo 'oh ok, sounds legit, that's the end of that'

I've read everything there is to read about this and I still can't understand why it has made so much news.

And the channel 7 guy just said the police in Arizona are "bemused" about how much attention this is getting. The bloke apparently got 1 bruise. They apparently reached some kind of settlement. Charges were dropped. The NRL was told at the time. Nobody involved in this situation is bothered at this point. The only people bothered are the media.

You're an idiot.
It doesn't matter that they paid their way out of it.
The fact is they started a fight while drunk in a bar.
Someone was injured.

They deserve to be punished. Heavily.

Remember Dave Smith and his zero tolerance speech?
Well he's coming across like a little bitch right now.

That money was a drop in the ocean for him. Sutton lost the captaincy.

That's the other thing. People are acting as if they got away with it. They were arrested. They came to a settlement. One player isn't at the club anymore. The other isn't captain anymore.

I'm sure Souths did know, but apparently they didn't think it was important enough to disclose this to the NRL.
And Dave Smith just swallowed their story.
Although I am sure Dave is used to swallowing things.

Its obvious now that Souffs tried to hide the full story of what happened and the NRL was happy to let them. A fair punishment would be to strip them of their premiershiP, but I would settle for a public flogging of Rusty.

I have not posted on this site for quite a few years. After a very short period as a member of this place I quickly discovered that no matter what circumstances prevail in regards to Souths, the majority of responses on here will be of the negative nature.

This Muzby character was the one I noticed most back then and nothing has changed. I do peruse this site from time to time, particularly after something major relating to Souths has occurred and the silence from characters like Muzby after our triumphs has been quite humorous to watch. I expect there would have been a thread on here relating to Russell Packer and the Dragons, and even though I could be wrong, I strongly suspect that the likes of Muzby and co. would not have displayed as much outrage or made as many posts as they have on here.

Souths Pride, Rabbits 20 and other Souths supporters, do yourselves a favour and join one of the two Souths sites where you will get difference of opinions but at least you will not be ridiculed simply for supporting our club. It is obvious that Souths Pride is not debating that both the players involved were numbskulls but rather pointing out a failing of the IU, yet no matter how much he tries to debate in a reasonable fashion, he is put down by a few sad individuals who really have a problem.

Anyway, If you choose to stay on here you will need to develop a thick skin because the moment something goes wrong at Souths, these vultures will be out in a blink of an eye. Just remember to let them know that the club that was bankrupt twice, kicked out of the competition, and had barely enough money to get through year after year for decades, not only survived but has thrived again to become current NRL premiers and Nines champions.

Good luck guys.

 you poor little thin skinned prick hahaha. So you're saying that there's 2 forums chock full of you dopes??

This has to be up there with BM's goodbye post.

Adding to the stupid of Souths_Pride etc.

Bring out the gimp!!!!

Then why the need to "reopen the investigation"?

Coming to a civil settlement is not illegal. You're making it sound like a crime.

I think all everybody wants is some consistency in the punishments.
At the moment it's like they just spin a chocolate wheel and see where it lands.

Some clubs get let off scott free while others get hammered.

I agree.

Now what punishment do you give these guys if it were up to you right now? One was kicked out of a bar and the other wrestled a security guard and has since settled it between themselves.

And what will you give the former parra now dogs player that got caught drink driving 4 times over? He'll be in court in a few weeks so the NRL better have their punishment ready.

I know what I think is a hell of a lot more dangerous but lets see the consistency there.

Well something as offensive as a tweet was $50k
So drunken disorderly and assault must be atleast $100k - $150k. Fugg it, make it $200k.
DUI should be considerably more.

Lmao what do Souths have to do with the actions of an individual who has left the club? That's like saying Melbourne should compensate Souths for Auvaa because he committed his crime before starting preseason with Souths. Souths take on that punishment just as manly now deal with the actions of Luke

answer me this..

which club did burgess hold a contract with upon the time and date of the incident?

and which club did avau'a hold a contract with upon the time and date of the incident?

and just on that... which club currently still has him as a contracted & profiled player on their website, despite the ban....?

I was watching Cops ,,,"drunks and druggo's" limited edition series and guess who popped up, Sutton and Burgess being manhandled and crying like babies.
They did the full routine, "show me your hands, get on your knees, eat dirt, put your hands behind your back, stop crying, where are you from, stop crying.".
What a embarrassment. You cant take souths players anywhere.

They try that in England and they will be given a liverpool kiss.
