Now they have finally won a premiership, it all seems a little too much for the Ho's, the Rabbitho's.
They are falling apart at the seams with this new found success, and players are leaving in droves (Sam Burgess, Ben Teo, Luke Burgess) and many more have plans to get out.
The culture is becoming toxic with hiding simple drunken fools on holidays, and now this premiership ring caught up in a coke bust.
What next,,,?

Fame and a tital are too much pressure for this club to handle.
They have reached the summit, and OMG, the fall is going to be mighty.
Only one way down as well.
Inglis to the new Ho's next year, the Broncho's.

You have no clue whatsoever.

Your jealousy is clearly showing.

Remember Madge is a brilliant coach just like Trent Robinson is who I also have strong respect for.

well, sutton has come out to the press..

South Sydney Rabbitohs star John Sutton breaks his silence over altercation in Arizona

After five weeks of silence from sacked South Sydney captain John Sutton, coach Michael Maguire convinced him he should face the media to ensure he and the Rabbitohs could move on from the fallout over his arrest in the US.

Sutton, who was stripped of the captaincy before Fairfax Media broke the story on February 7 of how Arizona police were called over a bar room altercation involving himself and Luke Burgess before the premiers were due to return home from an altitude training camp last November, had previously told Souths officials he didn't want to do any interviews for the entire season.

Even as stand-in skipper for the Return to Redfern game against Northern Pride, Sutton did not attend the post-match press conference and in England during the World Club Challenge he tried to avoid any contact with the media.

But after the Rabbitohs season opening 36-6 defeat of Brisbane last week, Maguire and others at the club decided Sutton and the team would be best served if he fronted up to the media, and the 30-year-old conducted a series of interviews before training at Redfern Oval on Thursday in which he was open and honest about how the episode had affected him.

"I would rather come out and just get it off my chest now and move on with my football," Sutton said. "We have had a pretty good start to the season and I don't want to take the shine off any of the boys, the way they have played and the way they have handled themselves. I had a bad week in the media but I have moved on, and all of the boys have assured me that they have moved on as well."

Replacement captain Greg Inglis said he had seen the hurt Sutton felt "in his eyes" and believed a "weight has been lifted off his shoulders". "We are not hiding anything any more so it is out in the open and we are just moving forward," Inglis said. "John has learned a valuable lesson and I am pretty sure the younger players have as well. They see their leaders obviously have a hiccup and then see the punishment for it all."

Maguire also said it was better that Sutton had publicly dealt with the incident. "I think it is. He understands his role in the game and with us as a club, he loves the place and it is great that he is now moving forward as we all are," Maguire said. "It is obviously something in the past that we have all learned from and we are looking forward to the clash this weekend against the Roosters. It shows the environment that we live in, the boys are role models and John himself definitely knows that. He is now going about things that show the person he is and always has been in my time here. He made an error and is now getting on with it."

However, Sutton knows there is nothing he can do to erase the police mug shots of him and Burgess that appeared on the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald and other publications. "I have a young daughter and it is not the best way to show her what her father is like," Sutton said. "I have seen it a few times and deep down it is not who I am. I have never been in trouble with the law before and I was really disappointed in myself. I have learned from it and I am going to make sure I never get myself in that position again."

With Maguire having announced on January 21 that Inglis would take over as captain this season, Sutton thought the incident had been dealt with and was overwhelmed by the media coverage after the reason for his axing became public.

"I was pretty angry at all media in general, just with the way I was portrayed," he said. "I know I had done a mistake but a whole week of being on the front of the paper and on tele every day was a bit harsh I thought. It was probably worse for my family, with my mum seeing my mug shot all over the papers."

After captaining Souths to their first premiership in 43 years, Sutton admitted it hurt to lose the job but said he accepted Maguire's decision and hoped to get the chance to be skipper again when Inglis is on State of Origin duty.

"Madge had to do what he had to do," Sutton said. "One thing I have learned from this is that it was a great honour to captain this club last year and I guess losing it was pretty tough. But I am still a senior player in this team and a leader in this team, so I will be doing everything I can for the team."

great that he comes out and talks and all, but one sentence in there makes me question him further...

John Sutton said:
I have never been in trouble with the law before

really john?

then what were you doing in a magistrates court pleading guilty to charges, and copping a fine for them, back in 2011?

Magistrate blasts South Sydney star John Sutton for hanging up on police investigating crash
AMY DALE THE DAILY TELEGRAPH MARCH 25, 2011 1:56PM

RABBITOHS star John Sutton has been blasted by a magistrate for hanging up on police as they tried to investigate a car accident.

The five-eighth pleaded guilty in Waverley Local Court to two charges of failing to give way and of not providing particulars to police following a minor accident in Sydney's east last year.

Sutton and the other driver involved had swapped details, but when that man suffered minor whiplash in the aftermath of the accident, police had to investigate and endeavoured to get in touch with the NRL player.

It is alleged he hung up on police when they contacted him by phone at his parent's house.

While Sutton's counsel submitted he had no recollection of doing so, the attitude didn't impress Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge.

"He had an arrogant attitude towards the police," she said.

"He is expected to tell them what happened and not just hang up on them."

She fined Sutton $500 for the offence and labelled his behaviour "just plain rude."

No conviction was recorded against 26-year-old Sutton for the traffic charge.

Sutton will play for South Sydney against Parramatta in their NRL clash at ANZ Stadium tonight.

Maybe you should direct that question inwards?
No conviction was recorded against 26-year-old Sutton for the traffic charge.

It is reasonable to think that no convictions = "never been in trouble with the law before".

If he is counting this arizona(charges were dropped) incident as being in trouble then going to court should count.

It is reasonable to think that no convictions = "never been in trouble with the law before".

so, by your definition:

  • being in a court..
  • in front of a magistrate..
  • pleading guilty to said magistrate..
  • for not providing your details to police..
  • the same police who were investigating you for..
  • your negligent driving, which led to..
  • personal injury & property damage to another person.

= not being in trouble with the law...

interesting....

see, i was reading his article, and the quote about his daughter stood out to me.. i thought maybe he has woken up, realised he has been a twat and decided to change..

but then goes and lies to the media in the very next sentence..

Lol the Telecrap headline of breaking silence on Arizona altercation - he said nothing really about the altercation. Headline should be "Sutton breaks silence over being silent".

"I was pretty angry at all media in general, just with the way I was portrayed," he said. "I know I had done a mistake but a whole week of being on the front of the paper and on tele every day was a bit harsh I thought. It was probably worse for my family, with my mum seeing my mug shot all over the papers."

it just doesn't seem to have gotten through to sutton (or souffs in general for that matter) the simple fact that - you fess up back when it happened, it's a non event.. gets a small run in the papers and everyone has forgotten about it by the next week...

no-one to blame but himself.

Of the article in today's Herald, the one that made me laugh was this one -

Maguire also said it was better that Sutton had publicly dealt with the incident.

Funny how Maguire was the first one to publicly state that Inglis was given the captaincy for on field reasons and that "John is comfortable with the Club’s decision and supports the change," (source - http://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2015/01/20/greg_inglis_appointe.html)

I mean does Maguire think everyone is forgetful?

As I said up thread, had Maguire and other Souths officials been open about why John Sutton was stripped of the captaincy in the first place, this would be a non-issue.

The whole club has zero ethics and morals from top to bottom. They couldn't spell the word truth let alone speak it. Unfortunately they and the NRL are joined at the hip so you would never have the NRL follow Souths to Arizona to find out what is really going on there. It would open a few eyes.
