Just keep the Tomahawks name then. It's already been well associated with the USA team at the world cup.

But Spinner seems to be way too keen on Stars and Stripes....

Maybe they want to be identified as a legit USA team and not a joke team full of uncommitted Aussies.

GW here,
absolute MUST to keep the Tomahawks name.

Its the one bit of american rugby league history that defines us.

They seemed pretty committed at the RLWC. Did you take the chance to talk to any of them? What commitment did you want from them?
Why single out the USA when many other nations were dominated by heritage players?

They were committed at the WC, but how many of them have done anything for the USA before or since? It wasn't a true USA team, they were ringers whether you like it or not, and yes they did a good job but they were still ringers and the USA national team won't be like that going forward.

I really hope they don't go with that. It sounds more like a tag line than a nickname.
Hull FC are known as the Black and Whites. Hull KR the Red and Whites. Wigan the Cherry and Whites, etc. That isn't really an adaptable nickname, it's just an affectionate tag line to the club.

Bald Eagles?

if they hadn't gotten the USA into the RLWC in the 1st place I guess we wouldnt be having this debate. I will be keen to see what the 250 players in the USA will do at the next RLWC without the uncommitted Aussies, I dont want to bag a developing nation but I have watched another vision of their standard and a Cup side in Aussie would put over 50 on their national team so if thats what they will look like moving forward I guess we wont see them at a RLWC any time soon.

Its been awhile since ive seen a domestic game, but the Axemen, Fight, Slayers, 13's on occasion would play with anyone in the CRL and some of the Cup teams..to say CRL reserve standard is pretty disrespectul.

If I remeber correctly Helensburgh Tigers came in 2010 and a short handed Axemen side beat them....

oh please , a USA national team with no heritage players would not get within 50 points of a leading Cup side.

There is no reason why the U.S. national team shouldn't have some players who play for clubs overseas. Alot of other nations do, including England, and if the New Zealand Warriors weren't in the NRL then the Kiwis would have even more players playing for Australian NRL Clubs. I would have thought some domestic U.S. players would have made the best possible U.S. team anyway.

Considering the Tomahawks name seems to have died from now on, and a new name to rise from it's ashes, perhaps the mascot should be the Phoenix, which can look similar to an eagle.

Thinking about it, they don't really need any mascot, just call them the United States Rugby League team, it'll differentiate between the codes and if wanted, the locals will eventually give them their own name.

In my opinion, this is a great shout!

USA Braves

Think it's as good or better than Tomahawks. Stays with Native American theme + "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave."

Can you tell us how many domestic players were in the team that qualified the USA into the WC vs. how many were in the team that went to the WC? Would be interesting to hear your insight on that.

How many heritage players do you think should be in the USA team? And do you think the number should be different from the Qualifiers and the World Cup Team if they make it?
