Blake Austin is a better 5/8 than Anthony Milford & Mitchell Moses

Agreed.

By the same token, if Austin was at the Broncos instead of Milford I could not see them making the grand final let alone winning games like the Good Friday classic.

That's where the value lies.

Yep agree with 100%. Both players have found clubs that suit their style of play and are environments with coaches that have helped them develop. Neither would be excelling at the other club.

Would they have gotten all the pkayers they have if he stayed? Maybe, but probably not.

There is no way we could have got the roster around Milford that we have now. We've got Austin, Sezer and Hodgson for slightly more than we were trying to pay Milford on his own. That alone is going to hurt the team

With the money we were offering him, we'd have one of the best players in the world in one of the worst teams in the comp.

As said, it stinks losing a talent like Milford who will likely be the best player in the world at some point, but it's probably been for the best in terms of our chances at success, this squad is being built in the right way to be a genuine contender.

Im still not willing to root FOR Milford, that'll take another year or two of irresistibly entertaining football, but i dont care enough anyone to root against him. Im happy with where the Raiders team is now, and i think it's unquestionably better than it would have been if we kept Milford

It's really only weirdo bronco fans who are carrying a bizarre grudge now. Like I said plenty of times in this thread it wasn't enough to take possibly our best junior ever but they also for some insane reason want us to suck forever. Look at IBM death riding us lol. What a strange fellow.

Some people struggle to see the bigger picture when it comes to players and teams. No every player is going to go well at every club. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good a player is the fit isn't right. I myself can't death ride the Raiders, theyvplay an exciting brand of league which is a pleasure to watch.

Oh Milford would look pretty great in green lol. I'm not so deluded as to think he's anything but extreme class.

It turned out alright in the end mind. Milford on a lot of cash would have made it more difficult to dump the clowns stinking up the joint. As good as Milford is and he was still really good in our last year he was being pulled down by idiots. Anyways no point pining over lost love is there. Things have worked out OK for the raiders. Need to sort out that line speed though.

 Perhaps you should check out the game thread for the GF rematch last week on Greenhouse, around the same time Milford slotted the field goal. Your grub fans do it to themselves.

You were in a Broncos v Cowboys game thread on a Raiders fansite? No, you’re not a strange fellow at all…..:?

You reckon you'll see Milford make some match winning tackles in a grand final Pete? :p

Stuart has done really well with the squad he has assembled. He always has been a good recruiter I hope you guys have a good season, that loss last week sucked because I had tipped the raiders to beat the titans. Hopefully having Sezer and Austin back is going to really lift you guys. And I agree with you, if there is a positive to losing a player like Milford it is that you have been able to round out your squad (as well as getting rid of a bit of dead wood that had reached their use-by date).

A classic example being Adam Blair at the tigers, just not a good fit for either of them.

Austin won't have to do too much to outplay Milford this week :sarcasm:

Actually pretty keen to watch this Austin/Sezer halves pairing develop.

Yeah that's mostly what has gotten me excited about the Raiders. I could easily be wrong and maybe it will blow up in our stupid faces but i think those two are going to compliment each really well and that will elevate both of their games to the next level
Combine that with Josh Hodgson who is an out and out star, and suddenly we've got quality footballers in the positions that matter most in RL
