I thought if you deliberately throw it over the opponent then its deemed a penalty which in this case I dont think he did. Fair try.

Love it, we're the only team that ever gets pinged for that. Hornby got pinged once back in the day and it's capitulated from there.

Also, bullshit last try. I'm out.

Greenberg and Patten can f**k right off.

I've been calling for blockers to be penalised for years, so I guess I can't complain when we're the unlucky plebs who finally get called on it.

He didn't deliberately throw it over the defense. He passed it backwards in to his other hand which then propelled it forward accidentally. The decision was technically right imo

If you knock it on accidently does it not count?

To be a knock in, it must come into contact with a defender, the ground, or an offside player (although that would be ruled as accidental offside, it's the same result). To be a forward pass, it has to be passed to another player.

It is illegal to deliberately gain an advantage by lobbing the ball to yourself over the defensive line. It's not illegal to lose control of the footy and regain it, which is what happened there. It's a try, unfortunately.

According to the ref, you can if its unintentional.. :sarcasm:

Thankfully that train of thought doesn't apply to other elements of life.
Otherwise a lot of issues would be settled with people being "accidentally" shot between the eyes whilst on their knees.

Think about it this way. If you're running with the ball and go to pass but it slips out of one hand and you catch it before it hits the ground or anybody else it's play on. Same thing. When I saw it live I was of the opinion No Try but I think on reflection it was OK. But someone will be able to say why it shouldn't have been given. That's OK too if makes sense...
