For goodness sakes.. better halves does not stop a fullback setting up tries and passing great balls. Dugan dies with the ball by a lack of a skill set or desire. He has positives ofcourse...strong runner and defender. But thats it.

Didn't Dugan send a glorious cut out pass for one of Nightingale's tries against Melbourne last weekend?

Dugan knows he has the same manager as packer so obviously it goes without saying.stuff around signing and packer gets caught up with the other teams circling.not sure your previous contract which was somewhere around 800000 to 900000 was fully repaid can't remember too many times when josh was MPV and won the game for the dragons

McGregor clears the air over Dugan future

AT EASE: Paul McGregor looked relaxed on Fox on Tuesday. Picture: John Veage

It was good to see Dragons coach Paul McGregor’s demeanour on Fox Sports’ Sterlo on the Couch on Tuesday night.

The rigours, on and off the paddock, of a tough 2016 season had visibly taken their toll at the back-end of last season but he looked a man very much at ease with himself on Tuesday. Winning will do that for a coach but those who spend a lot of time around McGregor know that is his natural way.

The only time he’s looked frustrated this season was at a well-publicised pre-Anzac Day presser where he was pressured about a supposed disconnect with recruitment man Ian Millward over Josh Dugan’s future. He took time to clear that up on Tuesday.

“Ian’s got a holistic job to do over a long period of time,” McGregor said.

“As a coach I coach our playing group right now. He’s got a job to do that is based around the club’s sustainability over a period of time. Whoever is at the club while I’m coach, I’ll be telling them what position they’re playing. Ian knows that and he’s comfortable with that.”

Sorry, I am no longer a sign Dugan fan. I've shifted to a sign Hayne or sign Mann position.

If we sign Hayne, we have a marquee player who has the x factor and is the type of player who might just bring the crowds back to our home games. I feel certain he will have nothing but a positive influence on our Clug and team. Of course like with Dugan, it could very well mean we lose Lafai, Milne, Packer and Mann.

If we sign Mann, there should be plenty of cap left over to sign Packer, Lafai and possibly Mine. Although Milne and Mann are not in Millward's future plans, Millward may include Mann if he performs well over the next few weeks.

I'd prefer Dane Gagai if it meant losing players.

Hayne is too disruptive and selfish.

For all Hayne's talent he's never actually taken a club to a Premiership. The bloke will be 30 next year and he's played in 1 grand final (off the back of his 1 purple patch of form 8 years ago) for 0 Premierships.

If you're going to pay the kind of coin he would command I would want a proven Premiership player, the kind of guy you know can build your team around and can take you all the way. Smith, Cronk, Thurston, Inglis, SBW etc. For all the hype Hayne just isn't worth the space he would take up in the salary cap IMO.

How could Mann not be in their plans , he can play anywhere in the backline and wont cost a great deal . Be hard to find a player like him...

I , like most , have been patiently waiting for Dugan to resign , but there seems to be more then 1suitor for Russell Packer's signature and they all have plenty of dollars to throw at him .

To make matters worse , a couple of those clubs are well known for their stealth in their financial dealings .
The time has arrived to do a ' Changa ' on Duges and sidestep his negotiations in an effort to ensure that big Russ remains in the Big Red V .

Dragons have a lot of excess baggage to clear (Mathews, KFL, Marketo, Masoe, Glymin, Hutchinson, Mcrone, etc.. ) between them there is $1.2M min worth of wages that will hit our bottom line .. Consider the fact that the salary cap will be increased by a $1m next year to $9.3M and w the departure of Marshall, Creagh, Rein, Farrell last year we gained an additional $1.3m in salary cap space of which only $500k and $300k went out to Vaughan and Mcdonald respectively .. So w the advent of around $500k under the cap this year plus the shedding of say $1.2M worth of talent this year plus the increase of $1m in salary cap there should be $2.7M worth of cap space plus TPAs to cover
Hunt $1M
DUGAN $850k
MANN $200k
Packer $450k
Lafai $250k

The above talent by my calculations will sit around $2.75M meaning we will need around $50k in TPA to cover..plus whatever we hs to shell out to cover Widdops additional wages.

Obviously the above is guesswork but it does give u an idea of where we could be at w salary cap management ..

I'm hitting the $30m Powerball tonight so let me know if I can help with a TPA. subject to my Minister for War, Finance, Recreation and Tourism approval. I don't think she even know's who Mr Dugan is but I have my ways.

Sire, I sincerely hope you can meet all relevant budgets on half that coin.

My good lady and l have decided that we would like to share in the spoils of the 30 million so if you don't mind, can you re-calculate your projected earnings to a measly 15 million.

If you have any further questions or queries, please phone my 24/7 hotline 1800OLDKOGARAHBOY and harass the poor online representative who earns 20 Indian Rupee on a good day ................ we'll be on the sloop John B, somewhere in the Bahamas.

As you were.

The new system for recruiting/pathways has Millward making the decisions, In 2018:

1. Fullback - Field
2. Left Winger - Macdonald
3. Right Centre - Dugan
4. Left Centre - Aitken
5. Nightingale
6. Widdop
7. Hunt
8. Packer
9. McInnes
10. Vaughan
11. Thompson
12. Frizell
13. De Belin

14. Ah Mau / Kerr / Lawrie
15. Sims / Sele
16. Host / Leilua
17. Mary can pick this one - only 10min a game

For me , those salaries quoted ( except Hunt , and that is now showing out to be nearly "unders "by what other players are getting and they havent even played Origin ) shows me even more the disparity between Dugan and the other 3 players and puts it in perspective. He is simply not worth more than 650K . With the 300k we save lets go to Fiji and sign up two or three outside backs !

Josh Dugan frustrated by St George Illawarra’s refusal to offer him a fullback contract
CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI, The Daily Telegraph

Subscriber only
A FRUSTRATED Josh Dugan cannot understand why St George Illawarra continue to undervalue him as he prepares to play his seventh Test for Australia.

On the same day fellow star fullback James Tedesco signed a four-year deal with the Sydney Roosters, Dugan told The Daily Telegraph he was unsure what more he could do to prove to his own club he deserved to be paid as a fullback, not as a centre.

Dugan has baulked at a three-year offer from the Dragons, but deep down knows the difference between the two positions in terms of money could be up to $300,000 a season.

While he will play at right centre for Australia in the Anzac Test against New Zealand, Dugan and Dragons coach Paul McGregor agree he’s best used in the No. 1 for his club.

Dugan also has no idea who the Dragons intended to play at fullback next year if they shifted him to the centres.

“That’s where I’m lost as well,’’ Dugan said. “I think the they’ve got plans for some of the younger guys coming through.

“But when I was coming through as an 18 and 19-year-old, your body is just not ready for it, and as a fullback you need to be (battle) hardened. It’s a tough position for a kid.

“I’ve been picked for Australia, and hopefully I’m picked for the Origin side in a few weeks time. There’s no reason why they (the Dragons) should have any doubts about how well I’m performing.

“I feel like I’ve proven myself at all levels, and I guess the most disappointing thing for me is the Dragons don’t see that.’’

The Wests Tigers and Bulldogs both need a fullback, but Dugan’s first preference is the Red V. He wants to recommit long-term, just as he did for four years in 2013. He won’t accept the centre money and then be expected to play fullback.

“The club recruitment see me as a long-term centre, and I don’t agree with that,’’ Dugan said.
“I’m not being greedy, I’m going for what I feel I’m worth as a world-class player. The club has offered me a three-year deal, but as a centre.

“I’ve played my whole career at fullback, I feel like I am one of the better fullbacks in the comp, and I feel I bring a lot to the table at fullback.

“That’s not to say I don’t bring anything to the table as a centre, but the way I see the Dragons’ structure at the moment, I fit right in at fullback.

“I’m playing some good footy, and I feel I’ve played good footy at fullback the last few years now. It’s annoying having to explain why I should be playing there when the club has hopefully seen what I have done over the years for them at fullback.

“We have a roster I’ve been a part of the last three or four years, we’ve been building and getting to point we’re at, so I’d hate to leave when we’re just starting to click into gear.’’

Dugan cannot wait to combine with his good mate Blake Ferguson on the Kangaroos’ right side, and was also proud of Dragons prop Russell Packer who will play for the Kiwis.

“I’ve said it 100 times, but sometimes it takes a kick up the bum to realise what you have and don’t want to lose, and ‘Rusty’ is another example of that,’’ Dugan said.

“He’s turned his life around, and I think he’s studying his second degree. To run out for his country is massive for him and his family.’’

As for teaming up with Ferguson, Dugan said it helped being so close off the field, and playing outside the classy Cooper Cronk and Matt Gillett.

“It works for the Australian side, and hopefully we can keep it together for the Origin side,’’ Dugan said of his right-side combination with Ferguson.

Mr OKB1, with some regrett the $30m in the Powerball has already been won by me according to Friday newspapers.
I can pledge that I will not only assist with TPA's for Duges, Packer, Mann and Milne to stay at Dragons, I'm also willing to assist keeping Hayne and Mundine away from the RedV.

But, there's only so much I can do with $30m, so no promises.

Well said by Duges.
He wants to stay.
He's has been over the last few years and still remains our best back.
Give him what it takes and stop the bullshit Millward. Embarrassing for Duges and our club.
FFS sign him up,
Just sort it out or let him go, FFS.
Sorry but thats ridiculous.

So if Dugan wants a million you honestly think the club should just hand it over.

Millward is doing what he is paid to do and that is balance out the squad if Josh wants to play the game Rein did he may find himself left out in the cold.

If he truly wants to stay he will take less to do so hell what some players are getting compared to say Widdop as an instance is mind blowing.

Ther team comes first not just an individual player.

Agree, Dugan wanted this sorted before round one!
His management is stuffing the Dragons around.
Time for him to accept the offer or move on.
The off contract players, what would they be thinking at present.
Time to give a deadline to Josh!
We all love him but fairs fair!
