I'm inclined to not have McQueen and Lawrence starting. One start (Rowdy) and McQueen as the bench utility, as he covers centre better than Lawrence now.

Fill the bench with 3 props. I'd mive Taylor to the second row and have Sue at Lock.

We just need 3 bench props

I like that. Reminds me of Potter's second year with Galloway, Woods and Blair rotating with Sue, Taupau and Gavet. That was a pack. If McIlwrick re-signs I can't see it happening.

We could still have 3 props and a hooker on the bench. The problem is who misses out of Lawrence, McQueen and ET ?

Carrying two hookers in the 17 is crazy though. You need forwards/versatile players on the bench, not specialist players restricted to one position in the spine.

I can understand carrying two hookers because they are so involved throughout the game. Lot's of teams do this as well.

I get what you are stating though. I want to see the Tigers have a dominant pack next year. One that smashes teams. The best way to do that I think is to have 6 big middle forwards belting it up all game. If your hooker plays 80 minutes it makes it a lot easier to do this.

If you have a good forwardpack, your hooker will do less defence anyway.

Enter the Tigers, who have four outside backs off-contract this year.

The 22-year-old made his NRL debut for the Dragons last year after graduating from the Roosters’ NYC side.

Having added Chris McQueen, Russell Packer and Josh Reynolds to the squad, the Tigers have brought in some speed to their backline, with former Storm centre Mahe Fonua and now Milne on their 2018 roster.

I'm assuming that we've signed Milne but is there anything official yet ? There appears to be too many stories for this not to be true but I don't trust News Corp/Fox at all.

Our backline is looking a lot better isn't it. Milne/Suli in the centres could be the best centre pairing we've had.

Nothing from the tigers (member e-mail) as yet, though they may still be in the cooling off period?

If you are just looking at the confirmed squad then the starting 17 will look like:

1. Lolohea
2. Nofa
3. Suli
4. Miline
5. Fonua
6. Reynolds
7. Brooks
8. Mautilino
9. MM
10. Packer
11. Mcqueen
12. Lawrence
13. ET

14. Sue
15. Twal
16. Liddle
17. MCK/Marsters

This team is miles better than our current team. Will take some time to gel so I'm not expecting a finals birth in 2018 but if they can all play for eachother I think we will make a really hard push.

My concerns though:
- Lolohea is our only goal kicker. Will be in trouble if he isn't in 17 or if he is underperforming at fullback
- Very young and inexperienced backline. I'm a fan of having a younger backline as the speed and enthusiasm is on point but I'm worried about the tough games where we are forced into a grind
- 2 middle forwards on the bench is a bit risky. If Grant takes up his option you could swap him out for MCK. If there are any injuries to back row you can just move ET there to cover

Just a question on alll these proposed teams I see for next year... Why does Liddle always get an automatic bench spot?

How about we get a starting hooker that can play 80 ( could that even be Liddle himself?), and then have 3 boppers on the bench and perhaps a utility back?

It's so hard but I agree. Liddle and Mcillwrick fight out for the hooker position for the rest of the year, and have Marsters as the utility on the bench with 3 big forwards

Liddle just got extended and apparently their is an offer on the table for Mc.

I wouldnt expect it to change any time soon.

imo the reason is because there simply aren't any 80 minute hookers available. I don't see Liddle or MM being able to last 80 minutes, maybe with time and development they will but until then I'd rather see that bench spot filled with Liddle.

MM is a pretty solid dude, you could move him to lock for a bit if we get a couple of injuries mid game.

I think Taylor at 2nd row is a manic idea. I've seen him on the edge and it isn't pretty. Much better in the middle as a ball playing lock. McQueen, Lawrence and Taylor is a good back row. Most of our grunt comes from up front anyway - Rusty and Matulino are animals. Our bench then has good grunt with Aloiai, Sue, Twal and Chee Kam (hopefully). Give us 1 hooker Ivan!

IC may have to find a spot for Marsters on bench.Hes a big kid with enormous talent who can cover back row & 3/4's hence may very well lock up a utility spot on the bench.

Hopefully we make a big play for Elliott from the dogs & due to his admiration for Reynolds we would b a massive chance of enticing him to concord.

It was reported today that the Dogs have offered Elliot $200kpa and have told him that's all they can afford. The guy looks a rep backrower in the making, we would be foolish not to have a crack.

Also it's being said on the WT official forum that Lovett's been told he won't be offered a contract for next year. News is getting better and better.

Multi game injuries ....which are a fact of life will make the selections...nothing more important than quality depth

If Lovett is being told he isn't needed why do we keep using him. Just slot Chee Kam or marsters on that edge since they'll actually be here in future

MCK is much better in 2nd row. Doesn't have the pace to be a centre imo.

There is going to be a lot of fighting for spots which is great. If Dogs are only offering Adam Elliot 200k then we should DEFINITELY make a play for him. Give him 300k on a 3 year deal + 1 year option in our favour (when you say 1.2 million contract it sounds very enticing)

Not sure with this line of thinking....

If they are both signed so be it- doubt either will be breaking the bank, and I don't see why this needs to mean they both make the 17.....

The good teams don't waste a bench spot on a hooker....
