We need to be able to find that cheap good forward though. That's something the Roosters always seem to do better than us.........

If Clark goes I would like another forward for depth and maybe this Galo guy or someone similar could be just what we need....

I'm hoping with Nicholls that he can last for a 25-30min stint and keep up with the pace. We don't just want 20 odd tackles and 3 or 4 hit ups. We need him to get into that tough stuff of 8 hit ups for 70-75m..........

I think Nicholls will fit that role, but I also wouldn't mind us signing Sam Tagataese.

Good dude off the field (Ken Stephen Medal winner this year), hits hard in attack and defence and has plenty of experience.

Cronulla's pack shows the value of experience in the forwards

To be fair on Turner we don't really know what role Madge wanted him to play. Maybe he was there more for the defensive side of the game.
I remember an article about Dave Tyrell where his dad was telling him to run the ball more and Dave was only doing what Madge had instructed.
I think Turner look more effective in the front row.
Maybe that's where his future lies.

Turner is a nice solid defender in the opening exchanges. I think to start the game we should go in with our best defensive pack.
For this reason I would start with Turner and Fuimaono on the edges and Murray at Lock and Sam and Tom at prop. I think this is our best defensive pack that also has plenty of go forward. I'd be bringing Crichton on like the Cowboys do with Hess. But I would be keeping him on for the rest of the game.
I would then use Turner as a middle man for his next stint unless he's needed on an edge again. He is very quick through the middle and seems to make good yards and he very rarely makes errors and gets a fairly quick play the ball.

I'm excited by the forward rotation we have whichever way the coach decides to go.

We unearthed along with Cohen Hess arguably the best three young backrowers in the comp this year. They all had impact at this level already and there is no doubt in my mind they will step up again. I personally Think Talakai can have just as much impact given time in the backrow.

The Burgi are still boys in frontrowers terms at only 25 or 26 years old. Musgrove is still a youngster and Turner will be coming into his prime years and IMO will have a career best year.
Then we have Sutto who should be playing less minutes for more impact and the ever reliable Clark who always does a solid job worthy of the money he is on.
We have a few quality youngsters in Rodwell who is a tremendous young talent a big bopper in Johnston and Ta'avale who might even give the coach something to think about.

I haven't even mentioned Sam . Then we have the young captain of the under 20s premiers. A young bloke renowned for his toughness and work ethic.

Nichols who himself said he played career best footy last year is a handy backup and prop option as he was this season for the premiers the Storm.
Young Britt seemed solid enough and willing . Then we have two quality hookers in Farah and Cook.

I'm excited.

Apparently we offered Jordan Mailata an extension & he declined in order to take up “other opportunities” so I don’t really know what has happened to him
A pity really, he was one of them blokes where if you got the right people to guide him & got his head right he could have been anything, a real project player

Having said that, he & a number of other islander fellas in the u20s constantly frustrated me, you’d notice how win, lose or draw as soon as the final whistle went they’d wander over to the sidelines, happy as Larry, not a care in the world, big smiles to see family, the last game against Parra, was so disappointed to lose that, yet it was as if they didn’t care

Angus will be going where more money is imo.

I respect him whatever he does.

With Gallen and Lewis retiring Cronulla will have the money I believe to throw about 800-850k at Angus.

That's probably about 150-200k more than what we can offer.

Crichton will be the next big thing I believe............

Maybe we are going for a last ditch attempt by releasing Clarky and saying Angus stay for 700-750k but we won't go any higher....

STID doesn't seem over worried imo.......

I'd say Clarky is on about 250k mate.

So bring in a player on the minimum wage of 100k and use the 150k tonthrow at Angus......

I believe it's more important we keep Angus over Cody......

Halves can't do their job without forwards anyway.


We have Doueihi to replace Cody.....


All I know is we can't afford to keep both Angus and Cody. One will have to go brother..... that is unless there is a miracle and we lose an underperforming Burgi twin.......
