Exactly. We have three of the best young back rowers in the comp. Let's hope it stays that way.
I hate to say this bro.......

I really do:

But, if one had to go at this stage I'd say that'd be Fui if he turns out to be great......

That can all change though........

But that's how I see it currently.....

STID doesn't seem over worried imo.......

I'd say Clarky is on about 250k mate.

So bring in a player on the minimum wage of 100k and use the 150k tonthrow at Angus......

I believe it's more important we keep Angus over Cody......

Halves can't do their job without forwards anyway.

We have Doueihi to replace Cody.....

All I know is we can't afford to keep both Angus and Cody. One will have to go brother..... that is unless there is a miracle and we lose an underperforming Burgi twin.......

Or who knows, AR may have his worst season yet and his body crumbles and we let him go...........

One things for sure it's gonna be a ride of highs and lows coming........ I just hope it's more highs than lows.....
Yea, couldn't agree more.

STID feels that we shouldn't pay overs for Angus. In some ways, I agree but we must try our best.

I'd definitely keep Gus over Cody. I love Cody and would still be very sad to see him go but we have some fantastic young halves coming through.

Yeah I do get where STID is coming from too......

I'd be sad to lose Cody too......

Wasn't that the rumour you mentioned the other week and all the nuffies in here gave you crap about it?...........seems like you were on the money all along R20. ;)
Unless I'm missing something else that happened here, that rumour did the rounds of Fox Sports, The Lurker, The Mole etc

You know when he reaches his peak this guy I believe will be as good as the heights Sam Burgess reached........

Angus is going to be a champion plus International and Blues player imo......

Future captain material for Souths.....

I believe Murray will be that good too..... f**k what is he still 19??? Geez.....

He will be demanding big money in a couple of years.......

Imagine if we lose both.........

What a storm there will be............

Disgruntled members will be calling for heads to roll. My oath they will........

Angus is yet to hit his peak and there's still a fair while before he will. 800k is just an absurd amount.

I'm actually pretty confident Angus will resign anyway. I cannot, for the life of me ever see him playing for the sharks.

In my opinion our biggest threat is the roosters. He played SG ball there and it's possible that he has ties to that club. They also have the salary sombrero over there.

I agree with STID, we shouldn't be re-signing Chrichton at all costs, only if the price is right.
He is a talent and is one of the top 2RF's from 2017 but look at the worlds best players and how many 2RF's are there in the top 20? I don't think too many, if any.
There are plenty of edge forwards getting about at the moment and you only need to look at our squad to see that. It's more important that we have top draw middle forwards than on the edge i believe.
Fuimaono is going to be a very good player i believe, his natural strength is extremely impressive and the way he keeps pumping his legs and drives forward post contact is great. It's what the top forwards manage to do. Big, big future for the lad and i hope it is with us. If I'm Richo, I'm looking to lock him in long term now because when he breaks out, it's going to be a rise similar to Crichton's in 2017.

IMO,I can't see why we won't be able to extend Crichton,Fuimaono and Walkers contracts at a favourable amount for all concerned.
Come the end of 2018 it's good bye Farah & Sutton for sure and I can't see fringe first grade players such as Jennings,Burns,Hunt,Gagan and Nicholls who are all off contract ending next year all being retained.
So for mine upgrades for the above mentioned are plausible.
The player I'm concerned about losing is Doueihi, massive future ahead for this young fella!

I'd be doing my level best to fit Doueihi[centre maybe]& Graham into the side on a permanent basis.
AR had better pull his sox up or he may find himself out of the side.
Doueihi is firstly a 5/8 but can play 1/2,centre & various other posses,I reckon. He is about 95 kgs so is big & robust enough.
A Doueihi/Walker combo in the halves would be OK with me.
I don't think Fui is anywhere near the class of Crichton who is the complete forward,IMO.
Fui is a head-down & arse-up kind of a player who runs hard but with little else in his armoury. He is a handy player,no doubt, but I think he will have to fight for his posse.I don't see Fui as a definite for our 17.I suppose,at least,he can be counted on to play hard & tough. He should never play centre as he lacks the skill & speed for the backs. If Sths are serious about improving their offence they will not play Fui or Hunt at centre!!

That's true itsa and I have been thinking similarly but maybe the club has already factored their $$$ into the 2019 cap towards Angus' salary.

Given that most of these players have played hardly any first grade, if any, we should be able to comfortably sign them all, especially when you see how other clubs are fitting a myriad of superstars into their ranks

The Lurker is reporting that Cook is the favourite for the Hooker role as Seibold wants to play a more aggressive (attack focused) style of play than Maguire's conservative style.

It is the Lurker though so take it with a grain of salt. He's wrong almost 100% of the time.

Great post Travitoh. I can't remember a rookie having such a great debut season for Souths. He was consistent every single game and was moved around a fair bit but coped with it perfectly. People talk about Crichton a lot on here but Fuimaono was the epitome of consistent. Which is very important as our team is the epitome of inconsistent.

With a full preseason behind him I expect him to come out firing in 2018. All of our young blokes are extremely talented and eager to learn which over time is something I've seen fading from a lot of our veterans. But let me clarify this by saying that this is normal among every human being. Hopefully the rise of our younger players will breathe new life into this squad as the slide has been quite painful to witness for the past few years.

Fuimaono also seems like such a cool guy as well. I would totally want to be friends with him.

If we get Angus for around that $850k mark then compared to other forwards in the game and within our own team, we're getting a bargain tbh.

Angus stats last year were better than Sam's in all bar offloads and Sam is reportedly on around $1mill.

That's very incorrect. Only stat Angus dominates in is average runs compared to most other 2nd rowers. He came 2nd in the comp.

I don't know where you got 1 mil from either. Most reports say 800k plus TPA's.

Bloody brilliant news if true!

Agreed, I'd even go as far to say that he was one of our best this year. Certainly one of the most consistent like you say.

All our young guys seem like great blokes which is also pretty cool.
