I think there is something wrong with the transfer system the NRL uses and i know everyone can see it. I mean how can i cheer for someone that is going to the roosters next season it just messes with my head. once a player signs with a new club then he should go there straight away. i dont know how to fix it im just pissed that i have to cheer for a rooster even if hes wearing red and green.

I like the transparency the NRL allows during the season for player transfers. His contract to the Roosters will have been signed regardless. It means that the club can move on now from Crichton and focus their time and efforts on bringing in new talent and retaining what else we have instead of spending the year making offers to Crichton that he's not going to sign.
It also removes the media circus that follows unsigned players and instead the team can focus on footy.

Unless I've missed something, he hasn't asked for an early release and despite being on much less coin than he could be earning seems to be eager to play out this season as a Rabbitoh.

I was watching NRL 360 last night and Paul Kent was saying how he asked a few NRL Clubs about the contract tampering rules. Basically, you’re allowed to talk to any player at any time throughout the contract however you’re not allowed to offer them a contract until the deadline of the last year of their contract. So ultimately the Roosters could be in negotiations with Nathan Cleary now but can’t offer him a contract until November this year. I always thought that talks were completely banned until the last year of the players contract.

IMO,it should be if a player is contracted to a club such as Crichton is contracted with us this year and agrees to a contract with another club whilst still contracted to us or any other club, the club should have the right to waver the players contract for the current year and not be responsible for any payment to that player.
For f**k sake if the off season isn't long enough for players and managers to hold contract talks once a player is off contract give the f**king game away!!!

The current set up is way to biased towards the players and the club is held to ransom by f**king managers spinning their bullshit from club to club playing them against each other.
And to be true as paying members they hold us to ransom as well,we deserve better for our $$$$$.
So once again f**k Crichton!!!!

Impossible to police it itsa.

Just on Crichton, I'm wondering if he's a bit fragile and we've dodged a bullet by not paying overs for his signature..........time will tell I guess.

Why would we waive the final year of Crichton's contract when he is a potential NSW rep earning a reserve grade wage?
