As I understand this is using the existing screens at the soon to be demolished Allianz. As for matches scheduled there, I believe it's 9 for the Roosters and the Dragons may be moving a game there (plus the Swans' 11 home games).

Those Allianz screens are huge, I wondered where they would end up.

Timmah, just to bring your comments to the stadium thread from the membership thread...…..

They've kept their base growing in spite of poor form in general over the last 5-10 years. The genuine concern amongst the fanbase (perhaps someone like @Suitman can add some understanding) as I understand is how the new ground is managed, including how many games end up being there (initial plan was 11, that could be in doubt), seating allocations etc.

If the ground isn't ready as has been speculated in the press this week - then that will certainly have plenty of members reconsidering their positions, you'd think. That's more important to them than the team's form, which they've already ridden the highs and lows of.

As I said in the other thread, both the Wanderers and the Eels are so desperate to get back to their spiritual home. Homebush has been a disaster for both clubs. There's nothing like a true home ground, and there is nothing like a new stadium to encourage membership.

For the Wanderers for example, there has been nothing like the following link since they left Parra - a stadium wide "F*** the Victory chant" (see from 1 min in)

Parra was just something special. The new Parra will be too. Homebush is just rubbish.

Eels and new stadium reach NRL agreement in nick of time

Adrian Proszenko25 October 2018 — 8:08am

Parramatta and the operators of the new Western Sydney Stadium (WSS) have agreed to a hiring arrangement just in time to avoid the embarrassment of the NRL releasing its draw with ‘TBC’ next to Eels home games.

The Eels will become the anchor tenant at the new $300 million stadium and will be the first sporting team to open it when they take on Wests Tigers over the Easter long weekend.

would be overshadowed by a stoush over the hiring fees after Parramatta rejected the initial deal tabled by WSS operators VenuesLive.

Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr had labelled that offer “not acceptable” and he claimed it would “impact the club negatively for the next 25 years”.

In a bid to resolve the issue before Thursday’s draw - and to dampen the political pressure that had been building from opponents of Sydney’s stadium infrastructure spending - the parties had been locked in a series of crisis talks in recent days.

They have emerged with a compromise deal, which Gurr and NSW Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres will trumpet at a press conference scheduled for 10am on Thursday at Parramatta Leagues Club.

The move will confirm WSS as the home of the Eels and will ensure their first home clash against the Tigers - who have already done a deal to take four home games to the venue in 2019 - will be a sellout event.

The Eels view the WSS deal as critical to their ability to fund their football operations after labelling their previous contract with ANZ Stadium - brokered by the previous Parramatta regime - as a poor deal for the club.

Manly boost as Brookvale Oval set for $35 million upgrade

DEAN RITCHIE, EXCLUSIVE, The Daily Telegraph
an hour ago

FINALLY, after a 30-year wait, Brookvale Oval is poised to be saved.

The neglected and ageing ground on the northern beaches’ Pittwater Road is on the verge of being given a $35 million state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence, including a new 3000-seat grandstand.

It would once-and-for-all end talk that the Penn family, Manly’s co-owners, want to take the Sea Eagles away from their spiritual home.

A historic announcement could be made as early as Thursday but club officials weren’t revealing any details on Monday night for fear of a last-minute hitch.

Manly had already secured grants worth $20 million from the Federal and State Governments.

It is understood the State Government is now considering another $15 million to ensure the Centre of Excellence is constructed at Brookvale.

Manly are refusing to raise their hopes after years of broken promises and empty dreams.

Although, well-placed sources claim NSW Sports Minister Stuart Ayres has additional money to spend after saving some cash when it was decided to redevelop, rather than tear down and rebuild, ANZ Stadium.

Manly’s Centre of Excellence would be constructed at the northern end of Brookvale Oval, where the existing scoreboard and Family Hill are located.

The Penn family would not be required to inject any money into the project.

Plans for the Centre of Excellence include housing Manly’s football operations, coaching staff and administration. It would be the first significant step in a planned overhaul of Brookvale.

There have been fears for 20 years that Manly may be forced to leave Brookie unless the famous old ground could secure a facelift.

The proposed new grandstand would back onto the Centre of Excellence and finally give Brookvale some much-needed love.

Manly would be able to ditch the demountables and compete with rival NRL clubs in terms of off-field facilities.

The Sea Eagles would train at two venues — Brookvale and the club’s existing premises at Narrabeen.

Training every day at Brookvale would damage the playing surface, with the Academy of Sport complex at Narrabeen offering three training fields.

Manly co-owner and chairman Scott Penn spoke about a Brookvale revamp during an August interview with The Daily Telegraph.

“The club is working very closely with local and State Government to make sure we have the right Centre of Excellence at Lottoland that would befit an NRL club,” Penn said.

“We are still a way away but there are certainly positive and proactive conversations going on. The area, deserves an activated precinct.”

It’s going to take more than $35m & a 3000 seat grandstand to save Manly from leaving brooky.

The centre of excellence is good for the club but the grandstand adds little.

It will still be the shittest ground in the league, even with this spent on it. It doesn’t need a new 3000 seat stand and a lick of paint - it needs a bulldozer.

Frick the fans, they’ll have a shiny CofE! I hope they are getting branded dumb bells with that $35million

The stadium site is blue.

Cowboys leagues is the green area.

Yellow is the main night life area

Red is a dining area with a few bars.

There is also going to be a hilton subsidiary hotel to the south of the stadium.

The location is top notch, the locals will just have to get used to coming into town for the games. The currrent shit box is out west in the largest suburb of Tvl. there will need to be a change in mindset of the locals that they’ll have commute in, I know there was a lot of people complaining about that on social media when the site was announced which was really disappointing.

People will whinge no matter what they do. If they were giving away a million dollars in dollar coins, someone would whinge that it wasn’t in notes.

You should hear some of the Raiders members complain about our proposed new stadium site. If it’s going to be built it’s going to be smack bang in the middle of town, in the heart of the restaurant and nightlife precinct which will be awesome for pre and post game events. It’ll also be next to the Civic bus and light rail interchange. But because you won’t be able to drive up to the front door people are up in arms about it.

Some people are just impossible to please.

At least we know it will remain the clubs training ground...

But Brooky will need more than this to achieve the bare mininum acceptably
