If OT rules are to be changed, it has to be letting the clock run its course. The full 15 minutes is played.

No you don't need to do that as it is entirely possible it ends in a tie again and we don't want to be going all night.

First to score is fine as long as both teams have a chance with the ball.

For the sake of brevity of OT I would enforce the following with "team 1" being the first team to use the ball.

1. In the case of team 1 failing to score on their first drive, the game ends on the next score (same as now)
2. In the case of team 1 scoring a FG on their first drive, team 2 is excluded from trying for a FG and must score a TD on their first drive
3. If team 1 scores a TD and takes PAT then in the event of team 2 answering with a TD they must go for a 2 point conversion
4. If Team 1 scores a TD and goes for 2 but fails then team 2 may go for PAT after their TD if they score
5. If team 1 goes for 2 and succeeds then obviously team 2 must do the same. If they are successful then the next score wins whatever that may be.

The above might be a bit complex but gives both teams fair opportunity IMO whilst keeping OT as short as possible.

Yep. After that, may as well just decide with a coin toss. There is nothing wrong with a draw - it just doesn't suit post season games. Maybe stats could be used rather than a coin if is was a draw after full OT period.

But the simplest and purest way to go is to simply say the current rules stay and each team must possess the ball

If NE score a td, kick a PAT, and KC answer with a td and pat and have the pats win on a FG, I’m fine with that because KC had their chance to win with a 2 pt play if they wanted

Just keep the rules as is, except to say each team must possess the ball.

The game plan of death by a thousand cuts worked. Clock management the whole game, keeping Mahomes off the field, and shutting down KCs best weapons.

KC was out-coached by a better prepared team. Just.

But it didn’t work
The death by a thousand cuts got them a draw
They were equally out coach and under prepared on defence as the chiefs were. The only difference was a coin flip decided which of these under prepared, out coached units took the field first, and which ever did was almost certainly going to lose the game.

NE maybe were better. So let them prove it on BOTH sides of the football. Not one

I think that is absolutely spot on. Fairest way to end a game that I can think of.

Just watching the replay with Edelman.

I never thought he touched and still don’t, it is just an inexplicable play.

Here’s a bloke trying to catch the ball but doesn’t. The way it unfolds, he doesn’t want to touch it all, and doesn’t.

Bizarre.

He can't work out how he didn't touch it. How the f**k does he miss with everything? As you say, it's what he wanted to happen anyway. Bizarre is right.

Haha he’s going to be an absolute mess during this game
Prayers up for Kurt!

So apparently when Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl vs the Rams all those years ago...

McVay was a QB in high school...

That’s soooo f**king ridiculous... :joy::joy:

Mate, that's just not the case. The Chiefs got back into it because of Mahomes and Damien Williams (who came out of no where with an awesome receiving game). Hill and Kelce were virtually MIA. Shut down by a defence that has been written off for the majority of the last 4 months. Especially on the road. They scored nothing in the first half and only made 32 yards in the entire first half ffs.

Our offence was on the back of Brady and a rookie running back who wasn't even first choice running back for his college team, and Edleman having both his best and worst game of the year.

Kelce and Hill weren't MIA. Double teaming Hill in particular is what opened up the space for the other receivers.

The merkin that was mia was Hunt.

That's not it, chief.
Nothing you said there addressed anything said in my post man.

It's fine, the Pats won and they probably deserve to, overall i'd agree they were the better team. It's just games shouldnt end like that. If Patty Mahomes gets the ball first and scores, statistically the Pats would still look just as dominant, and Brady would have been just as surgical and yet the fans would be denied the chance for the greatest QB of all time to add another pelt on his wall. It's not a fair or satisfying way to end things
Let the players, on all sides of the ball from both teams decide the outcomes. Not a coin toss.

Also Kelce caught a TD... yeah he wasn't a huge factor otherwise but the attention paid to him and Hill is what opened things up for Williams. As Parra said.
