It's a concept stolen from a struggling 5th tier sport in UK

We didn't need to stoop to this

And it can't be played again anywhere in Australia..

It will only average 16,000 fans a game anyway

3rd tier if you dont mind. And it kind of works in UK as fans can actually travel to the game without taking out bank loan.

16k avg is better than most rounds.

My rough estimation for if that were the case:

THU 7:50- Titans vs Sharks @ Robina - 6000
FRI 6:30- Tigers v Penrith @ Bankwest - 22000
FRI 8:00- Manly v Broncos @ Brookvale - 8000
SAT 3:00- Bulldogs v Newcastle @ ANZ - 10000
SAT 5:30- Warriors vs Dragons @ Mt Smart - 15000
SAT 7:30- Storm v Eels @ Aami - 15000
SUN 2:00- Roosters vs Raiders @ SCG - 10000
SUN 4:00- Souths vs Cowboys @ ANZ - 9000

total 95000
average 11875

So much bullshit here. Firstly this weekend is all but assured of drawing more fans than the games otherwise would have drawn. How is that a bad thing?

Secondly why can’t it be played anywhere else? If anything it probably makes more sense in Sydney. We already have talks of cities being interested in bidding to hold a magic weekend.

It doesn’t matter where the idea came from, all that matters is if the idea is good. Frankly this weekend seems to have generated a lot of excitement and has been one of the few shining lights for crowds in recent years.

You don't realize it's a stacked draw.. to put all the crap drawing matches on the magic round do ya

I like the concept. A little more of an event feel to this round than the others and potential to take it to other cities. Would also be great to have in Sydney if they get ANZ done properly in a few years.

Thursday definitely needs to be moved to Sunday though.
