If Izzy wants to play for $250k a year, he is well worth it. Would be a great experiment and if it pans out we get a cheap gun centre

No waiiiii for $1mill per!!

I'd be disappointed if someone like him joined our club, tbh.

By all means, believe what you want about people - but going out of your way to post hurtful, or inflammatory comments, under the guise of religion, just sits wrongly with me.

And especially considering that kids look up to him so much.

We’ve had all walks of life at the eels. He wouldn’t be the worst merkin here nor would I slit my wrists if he joins.

For me it has nothing to do his comments. Footballers are inherently stupid when it comes to posting pearls of wisdom. I don't want him near the club because of his age, time away from the NRL and to be honest, I really don't think he has anything to offer the Eels above what we already have.
Garbage..he is still an upgrade on what we have. Some of the blokes we have aren't worthy of tieing his bootlaces.
Excluding him would actually be contrary to the mantra Corporate Aus has today. Diversity and Inclusion.
I'm not offended by his posts. People believe what they want to believe. There is so much garbage posted on social media everyday. Should we all be offended. Fk no. We have gone PC mad.

Well no. NRL players are entertainers and get paid by the game and it's sponsors. So merkins need to understand that they are all brand ambassadors and their behaviour and social presence reflects upon the corporate image of both the game and sponsors that pays them (very well).

He is welcome to say whatever he likes as a private citizen. However if he wishes to continue to ride the gravy train as a professional footballer in Australia, he needs to pull his head in.

If their contracts explicitly state as such then yes. Otherwise fair game

If a player participated in hate speech viz; a christian might say you will burn in hell or an extremist muslim might say that the 3,000 merkins that died in 9/11 deserved it (Mundine) or anything else that goes against the values of the game or it's sponsors would be contrary conduct and their job would be on the line.

Bringing the game into disrepute is already an offense in NRL contracts and carries penalties including termination.

I'd assume he wouldn't play for peanuts. The Eels would be better off spending their dollars on other players, preferably in the forwards.

Folau says he was unlawfully fired because of his religious beliefs
Israel Folau will be seeking substantial costs as he begins legal proceedings against Rugby Australia, saying: “No Australian of any faith should be fired for practising their religion.”

The Wallabies fullback issued a statement confirming he was challenging his termination under the Fair Work Act, on the basis that he was unlawfully fired because of his religious beliefs.

We will have plenty to spend when 10-14 players are not retained. Sure, agree we need forwards but we all know we are lacking another quality centre. I think Parry will be good but maybe a year or 2 away.
Therefore if we can nab a quality centre and 2 props and an edge forward that will leave us in good stead for next year and beyond.

Poor guy has been brain washed.

=======
Over the next few days of the hearing, Gleeson continued to grill Folau as to whether he could take his controversial post down and guarantee not to make a similar post in the future.

However, Folau could not guarantee either as he believed he would go to hell if he deleted the post.

Just like you're entitled to your beliefs, values and opinions, so is he. You're mocking him for that...
