Me thinks Journo got caught with his pants down and had to back track his false story.
These blokes should ask themselves what we'd do with another average fullback. Edwards seems to have re-established himself to some degree and a signing like this would only destabilise the playing group.

We need to recruit guys to bring what we don't have here. Speed is one of them so aslong as they are cheap then why not
Speed is a single measure. Remember Lee Oudnryn and Darren Clarke? Both faster than a speeding bullet but rubbish footballers. They can't be recruited just because they are quicker than Mansour, because that is a very low bar to jump over.

That's great if correct.

I thought teams could only have a max 6 development players, and the Panthers have the other 6 players listed under their first grade team on the players section of their website. But Laurie's not listed.

Not sure I see Laurie playing FG this year so it might not matter either way.

It can’t be just speed, but I think our thoughts are based on the presumption the rest of their game is solid. If we could get someone like that it’d really help.

Although I see Naden as a possibility on the wing next year. He looks fairly fast, but he has something else we lack, height for kicks.

100%. Hes a downgrade on what we have

Edwards is reasonably quick... maybe a fraction slower than Thompson. But he has him covered for size, workload and ball playing... not that Edwards is very good at it.

Edwards has 8 try assists in 35 games.
Thompson has 2 try assists in 68 games.

Edwards also averages 20 metres more per game in what is undoubtedly his worst form since hitting first grade. Has a better tackle percentage and averages more tackle busts per game than Thompson... although Thompson had 14 tackle breaks in a single game against an Origin depleted Souths. Otherwise he's average in that area too.

Basically Thompson is only decent if he gets the ball with no one in front of him. In which case Naden, To'o and Blake would be equally as effective if not moreso. Only real player he would offer a significant speed bump over is Mansour. But for mine Naden should be his replacement.

Thankfully this Thompson business looks unlikely to happen though.

Can't the club teach Edwards to pass? Hed be a pretty good almost elite fullback if he got it right. These are professionals after all, both players and staff.

Weird we’d give a 2 year deal to MWZ.

Not sure of the mechanics of the top 30 but hopefully we can somehow drop him from it & still honour his deal.

They have had Lui-Toso sitting in the top 30 the last 2 years and haven't used him or bumped him from it.
Best case scenario he gets a deal in the ESL or has the urge to play with his Brother again.

This one will upset Chris.D
The lurker has posted RCG to the drag queens if a deal can be done between clubs prior to June 30

Cant loose him in my opinion he bleeds Penrith he is in a bit of a slump but it wasn’t to long ago he was close to the best prop in the game, get him fit and him pumped up and let him rip

The lurker lol.
The same fool that stated RCG wanted out 12 months ago only for him to re-sign months later.

The Dragons forum for the past week has been speculating about if RCG would come to their club because he is related to the Sims boys.
Perhaps the Lurker has been lurking there and trying to put 1 and 1 together.

Typically i'm against our high turnover of players, but not on this occasion. His contract is too long, and likely too big to justify keeping him.

Props are a dime a dozen at his work rate.

He only resigned because Gus wanted to keep him, Ivan obviously doesn’t

Quick run down of RCG’s stats

He runs for 8.6m per run, this is 42nd in the comp *amongst props*

He has 8 tackle busts, 41st amongst props

He has 134 total runs, 30th amongst props

396 tackles, 6th amongst props

6 errors, 12th among props

6 offloads, 33rd among props

The only good stat is the amount of tackles, but that could just be because we mostly do a 3 man prop rotation.

For instance RCG has the 15th most minutes of any prop, given this his stats should be much better.
