I think that could be his farewell speech.
It’s up to our club to match the money the Knights are offering
I pray that Millward gets this taken care right away
Why has this taken way to long

I don’t like the look of this at all , it appears as if the Knights did get into his ear and perhaps even convinced him to wear their Blue and Red colors - I sincerely hope that I am wrong about this , however the signs just are not good .

He would have signed by now if he was loyal and loved the club. He will be off like josh dugan and trent merrin after the dollars not premierships.

Not worth the dollors Newcastle are offering . Look at all the Newcastle signings all on big dollors but wont win a premiership.

I didn’t hear the interview, but just read the foxsports story.

Since it appears money is not the motivating factor but playing finals and being in with a chance of a premiership, Friz’s future in the Red V could be dependent on who the coach is.

Having said that, I don’t think the Knights are in a premiership window and even with a coach change neither are we in the next 3 years.

Another red and blue team is in a perpetual premiership window though and had already been linked with him. If finals and premierships are what he wants, I think I know where he’s going.

Hope I’m wrong.

Frizell would be a great addition to Newcastle. They need a couple of quality forwards. They apparently went hard for Fifita and Pangai, so they have now turned their attention to Frizell.

I do recall hearing/reading that David Fifita mentioned something about living in Sydney not suiting him, but Woolongong was more suitable. He is rumoured to be close to signing with Brisbane and I expect he will, but so far he hasn't and I am holding onto a strand of hope that there was more to what Fifita was saying. If we lost Frizell and gain David Fifita, then I would be very happy. Dreams are free.

I am a big fan of Frizell, but after further thought, I am not that worried about the idea of him leaving, that is because I think Ford is a very good prospect. I think he is ready for first grade this year and would be a more than adequate replacement for Frizell, by next year. Ford is a specialist edge backrower. He also scores quite a few tries for a backrower.

Friz says he chasing a premiership, well he won't win it with Newcastle guaranteed!
Money Talks though!

That interview with Friz certainly sounds like a softening of the blow for the inevitable departure. Probably his last & most important NRL contract of his football career.
I would not underestimate the influence of Freddy, his Origin coach, to point him in the direction of the Roosters and guaranteed success under Trent Robinson.

If it’s not for money the Rooters are favourites if not probably Newcastle due to the environment & a better coach. It did sound like a farewell speech unless unfortunately.

It's the Millward narrative and the limited salary cap that means most probably a lower offer from SGI. I am very confident that if the SGI offer and the Newcastle offer were about even, Frizell's extension would have been confirmed by now.

I really hope that Frizell agrees to an extension. If De Belin becomes availale for 2021, then maybe SGI can use the approx. 1.5m that beomes available through the delparture of Aitken, Lafai and others at the end of the 2020 season. The problem is that SGI must make decisions now projectin the salary savings and lock in the top 20 players prior to the 2020 season.

The performance of some of our young backs will be the gamble, They will have to show they have first grade potential in 2020 for possible selection in 2021.

Negotiations may not be complete as yet. The Frizell comment maybe a shot across the SGI bow letting them know that Frizell will not extend with a contract that is below market value.

Players are always saying it's not about the money. But if you're 28, young family, and you're offered an extra $100k a season or a four year rather than a three year contract, I'd be tempted.

Can't see Newcastle or StGI winning a premiership in the next few years. We have a dud coach, they have an unproven one. Who knows, might come down to non-football things like where his missus wants to live/work.
