Crichton looks the goods, he’s clearly a fantastic athlete just by looking. Big already at 19 and mobile and skilled enough to be given a run at fullback. He’s got the tools that is for certain. I don’t think Ivan can pick Whare over him, certainly not for long if so. Remember Ivan had Dallin playing regular at 19, Yeo and Carty also, Waqa was held back due to a severe illness otherwise he would’ve debuted earlier also. He’s got no problem playing kids if he thinks they are good enough, and Crichton clearly is.

Our top 30 is full though so would have to offload someone and a player who frees up enough cap space as well.
He is still with the Sharks for this season. I'm hoping for next year. He would be a better option at centre being he would be a better defender. But like I said, it's all window shoppin'.

If you believe the figures in the media Xerri has been offered a four year deal worth 2.2 M with the Sharks. There’s no way we would be in any position to match that and frankly nor should we.

We have 12 off contract including Tamou who is on good coin. So we could afford anyone whether we should is the question

We will have to resign the majority of the 12 off contract. Xerri is not holding off on his Sharks deal to sign with us. Surely we amongst our juniors we could find a cheaper option with much less risk and perhaps as much upside.

I think we have the forwards to cover letting Tamou go.
Edwards would be on mid range money say $250-300k. You could re-sign Aekins for half that or similarly promote Laurie for $75k
So not hard to get the money but Crichton will be better than Xerri. We should go hard for JAC though

The salary cap is a tough beast.

I agree the club will have to make tough decisions around whether to retain Edwards/Aekins or go with the kids. We will likely retain 1 and the other will leave depending on who performs best out of Edwards/Aekins this season.

Meh wingers come and go. I wouldn't break the bank for JAC

I agree. Playing for the Storm or Roosters on the wing is much easier than for us. I think we should concentrate our efforts on developing outside backs from within, surely we must have some talented and fast outside backs from within our junior ranks.

depends on others too if To’o plays well then he would need more to re-sign

Well there’s no harm in putting an offer him I agree with that but I wouldn’t be breaking the bank for him we have been down that path and it doesn’t work for us.

I’d offer what Mansour is on. Either gets it done or not but aside from an outright star like him. I’d rather a few position signings to fill gaps

Well I suspect Josh Mansour is not on 550K a season so unlikely Bronson Xerri is going to accept anything less than the 550K apparently already on the table from the Sharks.

He is also not a star, he is a talented youngster who has yet to truly establish himself in the NRL. He may well go the next level but $550K a year I don’t think so good luck with that who ever signs him.

Not better than Whare in defence, attack yes, plus we'd have to sign wade graham just to get him good ball, as mentioned by others here, he isn't proven to be worth the money he had already turned down by the sharks, we should stick to locking up our juniors before the sharks (no pun intended) come round poaching guys like Crichton and To'o

"Nasteski has been a mentor and confidante for the Suaalii family since spotting the Penrith junior playing for Glenmore Park aged 11 and convincing his parents to switch to South Sydney juniors.

“I organised a trial between Glenmore Park and Coogee Wombats and then Joseph’s parents agreed he could become a South Sydney junior,” he said.

“I quickly told (then Souths coach) Michael Maguire and Shane Richardson ‘I’ve found the kid that’s likely to be better than Greg Inglis in five or six years time’.”
