It will be interesting to see how the media rate our side. We’ve cooped much negativity in recent times around us supposedly being a top 4 side on paper (whether that was the case is debatable) but vastly under achieving. IMO the over inflated (fan and media expectations) mounted immense pressure. Who knows now surely we won’t get the same pressure and even pickup an under dog tag, which would be a welcome change. Either way it’s gunna be another fingers crossed year, where I think we could either crash and burn and be at the bottom of the table or (fingers crossed) the forwards somehow grow an extra leg on last year, whilst at the same time a few newby backs exceed expectations and we scrape into the finals
I believe the channel 9 boys (joey, freddy) have already predicted Dragons for the spoon next season have they not?
Gus wasn't happy with the appointment of Hook.
I reckon all of Gus's mates will death ride Dragons all season long.
Thank f**k I have Foxtel.

Plus Lomax is a totally different player than he was a year ago. He’s a genuine strike player now.
Further to that Feagai or even Williame is a massive upgrade from Aitken. The left wing position only contributed 1 try in 20 games this year compared to 15 on the right. Aitken scored 4 tries compared to Lomax’s 13, Aitken had 2 try assists compared to Lomax’s 7.

If Hook can lift the production out of the left side attack it’ll go a long way to big improvement. For mine JP has to be sacrificed, he lacks pace to be a quality finisher. Assuming Rav is on the right with Lomax Ramsey is the obvious choice for left wing.

JP is a whole hearted player perhaps there might be a role for him in the forwards otherwise it’s CC for him.

110% agree with you, I can’t stand the bias sycophancy towards Melbourne & the Roosters.

Can’t wait to prove all these so called experts wrong.

So can someone explain to me how our team is weaker?

Lafai? Aitken? Graham? K Sims? Host? Frizell? I give you Tyson but the others, no loss. They shouldn’t be in our top 17.

We have added two props and Bird and potentially we will get JDB back. I don’t agree, our squad is not weaker.

Probably fair to say we are lacking in seasoned forwards.
Keep in mind we have lost player or two over the past few years. ( Leeson Ah Mau )
It must be said that Frizell would've regained some sort of his former form under Hook.
Even McGregor could lead a horse to water but l think only Hook could make it drink it.
McGregor would have problems raising a sweat in a sauna let alone trying to improve players.
Host, although young, should never have been allowed to leave.
Graham, although in his twilight years was half decent the first year or two, plus his on field coaching to others (.... is gone ).

At this stage, l'm throwing the house on Hook & Co. to improve our club from where it has been for the past 9 years.

If he doesn't aim up, l might be advertising for some accommodation in two years.
Somehow, l don't think l'll be leaving the Goldie anytime soon.
C'om you Saints!
Go you good thing!

Hooooonestly - how da fook tid dough blokes evr get their ugly mugs on telly is beyooooond me ?

I mean that fella who is the Blues coach walks around the dressing room at half time with his hands in his pockets without saying a bluudy word to his players in the final and deciding SOO match - wha da fook ? ? ?

And your damn right they will death-ride our boys this year , but youse nose wat - I couldn’t care less , as I put my faith in the collective nous of our new coaching crew - Griffin - Elliot and Gentle to come up trumps over that motley gang of farmyard hens any day of the week .

Breathe fire Dragons in 2021 ! :fire:

Does make one wonder why he hasn’t got the run at the gummies though. It’s not like they are bursting at the seams with guns given Gal retiring, Fifita being injured etc. Time will tell but the games I’ve seen him play in reserves he looked very good.
Cronulla have cap issues, sometimes players have to be sacrificed. They paid way overs for Graham, Dugan, Moylan, Fifita & Johnson. Remember Cronulla let both Tyson Frizzle & Beau Scott go so it’s happened in the past.

The problem is plenty of players look good in reggies..it is a fair bit slower.
Quite a few also never have it for 1st grade level...maybe Billy is one
Been going on since Adam was a boy..oh well at least since 1908
Maybe Cronulla know something we dont
They obviously thought Rudolf, Kennedy, Sorenson and that huge front rower and kiwi centre who goes well..talakai?..who got 1st grade gigs from reggies before him
Billy just may not offer as much as they do in the Sharkies eyes.
But in saying that happy to give him a shot!..he is young and got good vision

And strangely enough they thought McGregor was a good coach and he was never to blame for the sides poor form, except for maybe Johns and Gallen.
For those like me that do not have FOX or Kayo, Channel 9's football commentators infuence on the NRL and piranha fested media are as bias and agenda driven as they come and at times does drive you crazy.
They are a protected species, no matter what, in the name of entertainment.

Good I say, let them all write us off, it will be all the more satisfying if they band together, play some enterprising football and make the finals.

Yeah of course, I’d be stoked to get him but it is a question which must be asked. Worth a gamble in my opinion given our situation but he is without a doubt unproven at this stage.
