I don't think we have seen a 5th day pitch in any of these test matches and as much as Lyon needs assistance he should at least average more than 1 wicket per innings.

We've taken 3 wickets so far today so cant see us taking the last 7 to win this from here.

The autopsies are going to be interesting but no 1 test team in the world, we are not, there is so much wrong with this team right now.

Someone is going to have to Wade through all the bullshit and try and work out what the problem is

A Starc turnaround from what India’s post mortem will look like.

India only need to score at 3.91 runs per over, which is achieveable with 7 wickets in hand.

It all depends on whether Pant decides to tee off like he did in Sydney.

Pant is the key, if he tee's off and stays at the wicket for a while India have every chance.

If Pant falls I dare say India will likely stonewall to a draw.

Fox Sports - Give me a a hefty contract for stating the obvious.

I know the standard of play during this series hasn't been the best (e.g. plethora of dropped catches from both teams), but there haven't been too many test series in recent years where the series result has been decided in the last session on the 5th day of the final test match of the series.

In the future, Australia vs India really needs to be turned into a 5 test match series (just like the Ashes) instead of 4.

India also have debutants Sundar and Thakur up their sleeve, who showed in the first innings they're more than capable of hitting 4s and 6s.

In fact, if India are still thinking of going for the win, if another wicket falls, it wouldn't surprise me if Sundar or Thakur both get promoted above Agarwal, and keep Agarwal at #8 in a Pujara-role if India want to save the test match.

Australia's last hope is the new ball in 16 overs time.

Hazlewood/Cummins/Starc will only have about 5-10 overs max. afterwards to make an impact.

Lyon needs to bowl a ball to Pant like Sundar did to Warner in the 2nd innings, one that appears to turn in the air but skids straight on after pitching and catches the batsman by surprise, very similar to the slider Warne became famous for in the last few years of his career.

Pant is purely playing for the turn and when Lyon pitches too far outside of off-stump, it's an easy leave for the left-handed batsman.

That's the problem for the finger-spinner when an off-break is the only type of delivery they can bowl.

I feel like we needed to have them 5 down at tea and Pujara gone to have a real chance.
So yeah, not happening. India not going for the win either.
