Does NRL have a fixture plan for new SFS?

How awesome would it be to have the first season have a game either every Thursday night or Friday night at SFS for 26 weeks straight..

NRL should be working with clubs and broadcasters now to set something up

Not just leave it to channel 9

If the rumours are true and the Rabbitohs have signed at Allianz, the NRL should ensure the Rabbitohs and Roosters play their games on alternate weekends and there is a game there every week.

If either club gets the Friday 6pm slot, they should market the hell out of it as its the perfect after work event for workers in the CBD, Surry Hills etc.

Thats how it should be, same as the eels and tigers at bankwest, possibly even bulldogs at kogarah, as its only 8km away from belmore oval anyway, and homebush (the eyesore) is 8km the opposite direction

Thats a reasonable start for a "consolidated stadium strategy" - you'd have 3 venues with shared tenancy (SFS, Bankwest, Kogarah).. and just the Panthers, Sharks & Sea Eagles out in their own stadiums. The question then becomes whether that justifies an upgrade and/or rebuild of Kogarah that could be done instead of the Bulldogs/Tigers Liverpool plan.

haha, that would take strategic thinking, and we haven’t had that at nrlhq since Dave smith was ousted.

ARLC Commission chairman Peter V’landys has used one of the most emotional and memorable days in the game’s history to declare the code is on a mission to return footy to Sydney’s suburban grounds.

V’landys said the code was working on a strategic plan that would ensure every Sydney club would avoid ever having to take games away from their local area and largest supporter base in the suburbs.

“It’s all about tribalism, it’s all about your suburb and it’s all about your team,’’ V’landys told 2GB.

“At Henson Park, it shows why you need suburban grounds.

“They (fans) want to be able to walk to their facility, they want to be tribal and we’re not going to give up until we’ve got all teams playing out of suburban grounds in Sydney.

“I was very proud to walk into Bankwest last week at Parramatta, it’s such a great facility, it’s got the latest technology, you’re close to the action, you’re well looked after, but that’s just one club — you need to do it for all.

“You need to do it for Manly, you need to do it for the Tigers and the Bulldogs, you need to do for the Panthers and that’s going to be one of the main objectives of the Commission, to get these suburban grounds (updated) and go back to the good old days of tribalism.”

The rest just talks about Tommy.

It doesn't tell you much but sounds like the idea of 4 mini Bankwests has even been shot down. Are they looking at upgrades to all the stadiums instead.

isn't the plan to upgrade Brookvale, Kogarah, Penrith and build a new "mini Bankwest" in Liverpool for the Dogs and Tigers to share?

So his mission is to ensure that there are no games in Perth, Bathurst, etc, etc.
I suppose that if you spend hundreds of millions upgrading all the suburban stadiums, you have a duty to use them as much as possible.
Also, can someone explain the reference to Henson Park?

I think the plan is pretty fluid, especially when they'll be fug all games played at Kogarah.

Upgrading Brookvale and Penrith make sense, so too a new stadium for the Dogs and Tigers if they want to play out of it.

The clubs will still move those games
