Looking at Ravalawa's tackle, it was in the ribs.
You can't wrap your arms around if you are bent over and your head is down.
If we challenge it, I think we may be successful.

Then again, they will show how serious they are over Shoulder charges by standing firm against the Dragons....and protecting the chooks.
This is a terrible system where you can't question the charges for fear of extra penalty.

I know the commentators have to have their say but surely the coaches involved can be asked to not influence the process by making demands and comments until after the reviewers are done.
Robinson has a sook after every damn game.

Right, very fu*king tackle of a kickoff is basically a shoulder charge as the defensive team compress the defensive line and there is no room to wrap your arms around the ball carrier.

Have the NRL introduce a rule that your can't have a shoulder charge off a kickoff or on the first tackle after a kick downfield.

I would estimate that by the current definition, each game would have in excess of 40 shoulder charges.

The NRL need to come out with appropriate criteria to apply when evaluating a shoulder charge.

I note that Rugby use the criteria if the tacklers arm is alongside the body then its a shoulder charge. If the arm is away from the body, then its consider an attempted tackle, just the arm is a bit late.

It's interesting that for a process dressed up as judicial - to the point it is referred to as the "judiciary" - the concept of sub judice is conveniently ignored.

Comments in the past 24 hours by both the CEO and the Head of Football could be construed as prejudicial but I suppose the public interest outweighs independence.

Unless it's a Rooster: NRL v Radley (2021).

My defence for Ravalawa is he led with his shoulder (and head). This is how a good tackle to the abdomen (gut) region is executed. You lead with the shoulder (forget about the head for now) and drive into the oppositions body. Your arms then come into play to wrap around the body of your opponent as you lift and drive them into the ground hoping it is the cricket pitch (old grounds of yesteryear) area so they feel the real impact of the tackle. There is every chance your opponent will have sore ribs his breath will be knocked out of him and there is every chance his head will strike the ground/cricket pitch and be knocked senseless.
Now his head hit the opponent's gut as he came from the side and misjudged or mistimed the tackle by Milli seconds. Also Ravalawas right arm doesn't wrap because of the angle of attack and he uses it to maintain his balance. His left arm does wrap if you look at the photo taken from behind Morris (that photo has been produced by someone here on Facebook have any of you seen it?). Actually you can see Ravalawa's left arm make contact with Josh Morris's body in this photo.
There we have it a legitimate tackle he did not use a shoulder charge and did not strike the opponent's head.
Not guilty!

This is what Brian Fletcher said on sen radio last night.
He said his back is bent & he's leading with his shoulder, just like you're taught to do.
Also said if Rava is guilty of a shoulder charge then so was Crichton.

Well he should know and he was a chook. It was a tackle but don't think the Dragons will challenge worried to lose Rav for longer which the spiteful pricks could do. Isn't Ben Creagh on the Judiciary. We should make a point on this and get NRL coaches to side with us. Gus Gould thinks it a tackle.

It's a bloody lottery going to the judiciary to fight it so I think they should just accept the 2 weeks and move on. When was the last time we ever had a charge overturned at the judiciary?

And I don't think Creagh will help the situation...

St George Illawarra trio Tyrell Fuimaono, Mikaele Ravalawa and Jordan Pereira have all taken the early guilty plea after being charged by the NRL match review committee following the Dragons' hefty loss to the Sydney Roosters on Anzac Day.

Pereira's highly publicised hit on Roosters fullback James Tedesco will see him miss three weeks after being charged with a grade three careless high tackle.

Fellow winger Ravalawa will miss two weeks after being hit with a grade two shoulder charge on Roosters centre Josh Morris.

Fuimaono's grade one careless high tackle, also on Tedesco, will see him fined $1350 following his respective early guilty plea

Well many predicted during the week before the game , that the Dragons would be hit hard for any transgressions against the rorters - and they were damn well right .

We now have Graham Annesley coming out in the media to tell the players - “ to pull their heads in “ , or words to that effect , and for all the head hunting to stop as they are on the increase compared to years gone by .

Well Mr. Annesley , why did your boys do nothing about this from day 1 in the 2021 season instead of making a big song and dance about it now ? Have the Steggles boys been on the honker threatening to stop you supply of roast chicken unless those ferocious Dragons were not taught a lesson for man-handling their chooks ?

We are all aware that whenever the judiciary decides upon a crackdown , for whatever may tickle their fancy at the time , then why not come down hard on St.george Illawarra - after all your boys ( for all of their shortcomings ) can easily identify them as they are the ones playing in the Big Red V .

There , over and done , now you may move onto next season’s foul play and decide whom shall be your whipping boys in 2022 .

I really don't know what to think.
Rava will be a massive loss, and I think the Club had precedent to fight this.

They should have challenged the Pereira charge as well. I know it's pushing shit up hill with a stick and it was a tackle on one of the golden boys but if Teddy didn't swan dive into the tackle he would have copped a hit in the ribs. According to the NRL and their random suspensions, a high speed accident like Pereira's tackle is worse than Kaufusi deliberately elbowing Ryan Matterson in the head.

I agree with you

There is a time to fight and the Rava case was that time & for the life of me I don’t know why they didn’t as the Creighton tackle on Clune was a good example to pin your defence on.

if we keep capitulating and copping it up the arse there will be plenty lining up to give it to us.

TruSaint , Walpole and O.T. agree with each of you , the Dragons should had had the gumption to at least put up a defense, or perhaps have a discussion to someone at the judiciary - Annesley .

Although Peirrera tackle looked very bad , I still believe that their Teddy had fallen into it to a degree . As bad as it appeared , the Dragons should had backed their man and also made the point that Peirrera is not a individual whose is overly aggressive.

But the Dragons have made their decision and the boys will have to accept it and move on , but it rankles me to think that our club’s representatives - coach or whomever merely accept it .

Ben creagh will stand down if and when dragons players attend judiciary. Same applies to other adjudicators if they have links to other clubs. It’s the rule.

Josh Curran of the Warriors collided with a Storm player. The player, I think it was Jennings, dropped the ball and was worse for wear. The front on contact was not high, was not late, was not malicious nor was it careless. It was just a nicely timed hit. However he was binned and facing a two week suspension.

This would not happen if the teams were reversed. Just like Ravalawa will miss two weeks while Crichton will be applauded for his illegal hit on Clune.

Sometimes I question why I bother when this game has such injustice and blatant favouring in it.

They aren’t fighting it because they know they will lose! Experience tells them this. Every time they fight something it’s upheld. It’s 100% rigged. The NRL, Bunker, Judiciary all f**ken rigged mate.
And it’s not just us copping it, there are 12 other clubs copping it also. Only the super-clubs aren’t copping it.
Remember when Frizzell touched the ref? 2 weeks was it?
Cam Smith does exactly same thing and no problems, it’s Cam after all.
Sims even looks sideways at a player and he gets penalised.
Roosters, Storm, Penrith these days, these clubs can do whatever they want.
Every 50/50 goes their way.
Braith nearly cried the other night when Pereria wasn’t sent off because he took out “the best player in the world”
Lol
