Hey eels mods, it’s Xmas, stop pulling us tourists over and checking for faded indicator lights. These human rights violations have to stop.

Does anyone remember Johnny Kolc? The biggest prop in the history of the game. I used to train his greyhounds. Frisky Lad was never beaten in the fifth grade and won plenty of Wild Oats Classics, including the Come by Chance Paws of Chunder.

I think he’s a good leader but hardly indispensable, what do you reckon if we gave Moses the Keys??? Captain and all??
It's hard to tell just watching on the field and in pressers. He certainly seems like he could be a captain but we couldn't know if he would go better than Gutherson. The best clubs all have a few leaders, so it's not like we can't benefit from whatever Moses brings.

Moses is our best player by a country mile. His kicking game, his speed, his leadership both on and off the field is irreplaceable. He is our most important player and is only second to Peter Sterling in terms of our all time halfbacks. As far as I’m concerned he has broken our number 7 curse.

And some wanted The peanut to stay here and Moses to leave. The peanut’s career meanwhile stalled until he prematurely had to retire due to a lack of interest from every club in the NRL.

We f**ked up with Ice. Simple as that. And we could have got him for less than our final offer which he rejected. Do you like those numbers?
It’s a shame that we mishandled it.

I assume it was interest from other clubs that meant he ended up rejecting an offer worth more than what he was originally willing to accept?

I just think Moses is the sort of bloke to grow a leg if we gave him more responsibility, he proved he has grown during his contract negotiations when he just left it to his manager and it was kept out of the media unlike our captain. Our skipper is a selfish hog at times as well.

Ive been a critic of Dylan Brown, but there's something I can't quite put my finger on that makes me want to persist with him for the long term. There's a resilience, calmness and class about him that I think is yet to fulfill its full benefit for us. I think it's coming....
*Best defensive back in the game.

Most of the criticism that was levelled at the team on the forum was about our inability to score points. Thats the missing piece when it comes to Dylan. I get that Moses will always be the dominant half but I'd love to see Dylan threaten more in attack.

I would too. They play on opposite sides. Having that threat on both sides would be a handful.

I'd agree with this. He's matured enormously in the last 2-3 years. Much more composed on the field as well.

I wasn't thrilled when we signed him but he's turned into a high quality 7.

It’s like we sat back and said look here’s a player on a minimal contract. Let’s sit back and do nothing instead of trying to tie him up before we have to pay a premium when he establishes himself as one of the elite forwards of the game. Compare that to the Roosters who put Sam Walker under lock and key back in May instead of “waiting to see if he proves himself” or whatever other mental gymnastics the “we’ll easily find another Papali’i” crowd wants to say.

Was Frisky Lad as fast as Repco Lad or Gay Akubra?

To be fair, as good as Papali'i has been for us, he's far more replaceable than than likes of a Walker.

Quality halves are in short supply, and 18 year old ones that are mentally ready for NRL ( if not yet physically ) are few and far between.

Also when it comes to player retention, we're not the Roosters, it feels like we're getting there on a lot of levels, but let's be honest, the Roosters at this point in history 'aint losing any merkin they really want to keep.

They already have an origin half in Keary and origin fullback in Tedesco. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if they lost Walker. Papali’i was one of the reasons why we matched it with the best teams this season. He’ll be a huge loss. We need to be play smarter both on and off the field. I don’t think it’s right to sit back and say “we aren’t the Roosters” and just accept that we’ll always be behind them. We should be aiming to surpass them and any club that has such high standards.

I half expected that to be interpreted as acceptance of being behind them ongoing, but it's not. It's acceptance that that is the current status quo, and there's simply no denying it.

We can't expect to be in the same position as the likes of the Roosters now, because we are not, we can expect only that we will improve our processes and position to the point where we equal them, and perhaps in doing so they drop down a peg or two, in which case then we might well get ahead of them.

Hence my use of the phrase "at this point in history". Let's not kid ourselves, these things take time, we were a f**king basket case not so long ago, and there have been times when the Roosters have been as well. They didn't become the organisation they are overnight, and if we are ever to become that strong it will also take time.

I think it's pretty clear we are getting there as a club, and as fans I think we should accept that regardless of the process, getting there will take time.
