Let's face it, Australian tennis would be a laughing stock on the world if it wasn't for talented Queenslanders winning Grand Slams.

Pat Rafter (Mt Isa) won the US Open in 97 and 98.

Sam Stosur (Gold Coast) won the US Open.

Ash Barty (Ipswich) has won French Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open.

Rod Laver (Rockhampton) was the greatest player this country ever produced. He's a Queenslander.

Victorian crowds are poorly behaved and carry on like morons. A Russian player correctly pointed out that they're idiots. So no more events in Melbourne.

Tennis events in Sydney are played in front of empty stands at Ken Rosewall Arena because no one in the city cares about attending sport.

The only suitable place to hold the Australian Open is Brisbane. The Brisbane International always gets big crowds. Build a few more big arenas, covered like Rat Rafter Arena in Tennyson and it will be perfect.

Melbourne and the other southern capitals get too hot around this time of year. Those dry high pressure systems that dominate the southern part of the continent bring wildfires and scorching hot temperatures in the high 30s and 40s. Not a good place for a tennis tournament with everything we know about skin cancer.

Brisbane is around the 30 degrees Celsius range with moist tropical low pressure systems. Tennyson is the perfect place for an indoor tennis tournament. Just need to get Palaszczuk to build a Sam Stosur Arena, Rod Laver Arena and Ash Barty Arena to go with Pat Rafter Arena. Lleyton Hewitt can have one too as he beat Roger Federer in the final of the Brisbane International.

Its been played in Brisbane before, it was a bit of a travelling show around Australia before they settled on Melbourne permanently 1972 onwards.
Build better arenas around the country and rotate it between the five major capitals. It might attract more international tourists if it's held in a different city each year. Arenas should be undercover though for the safety of the players and spectators.

Nadal up to 20 unforced errors after 1 set and 3 games. This is going to be over in 3 unfortunately.

When naming great Queensland tennis players you cannot leave out Roy Emerson who won 12 Grand Slam singles titles.

I'm going to throw in Wendy Turnbull's name also, while she never won a singles grand slam title, she was a finalist 3 times and won numerous grand slam doubles and mixed doubles titles, was in the top 10 for almost for ever and flew the Australian flag through one of the leanest times in Australian tennis, i feel she never got the recognition she deserved

It would have been great if some of our past champions were commentating for Ch9. It was a joke having a yank and a pom do it.

If this goes to five sets Rafa will deadset keel over into a coma halfway through the fifth...balding bastard could reforest the Sahara with how much sweat he's pumping out

Nadal is the greatest fighter to ever have played on a tennis court.....no matter where his slam count ends up in comparison to Novak and Roger.

Nadal's fighting damn hard but he's making more unforced errors than someone in 200 rankings would. Old man doesn't have it in him tonight. Wish he had won that 2nd set but again too many errors and Med can be pretty clutch when he needs to be.

Second set was huge....a set Nadal should have just got. Could have been a different match.

Im going to be considerably less mad when he loses this now that he's taken a set off him against all odds.

At this point you would have to think Nadal would have to double break him of he's a chance at getting to a 5th.
Mevedev is just a humanoid pong game in hard mode.
Catches almost everything.
I don't like him but I respect his hustle.
