4-5 games at sub 12k stadiums. Hmmmmm.
I wonder if they will reconsider SC given Falcons have refused to partner with them?
They are planning on playing games on sunny coast

isn’t it getting an upgrade

qld govt has to upgrade Sunshine Coast and Redcliffe with all the money the are throwing at the Olympics

Supposed to be sometime in the next ten years. No plans for Redcliffe.

Just seen the new memberships up on Dolphins website. Yep 7 games Suncorp, 3 Redcliffe 2 SC. We really didnt get the Brisbane2 we hoped for did we lol.

time will tell. Let’s hope so for the sake of future expansion. With 5 games at stadiums unfit to host nrl we‘d better pray they get 30k plus at Suncorp!

They made their intention to play up to half their games away from Suncorp pretty clear, so this isn't surprising. All you had to do was pay attention to what they were actually saying, not the opinion pieces on their bid.

What's unfortunate is that the split venues will further split their market, which will hurt their support, and attendance in the long run. That will eventually be used as an excuse to play more games in Redcliffe because it'll be "adequate for their audience" and cheaper, which will further hurt their support across Brisbane, but cement them as a 'Redcliffe' side which is what they really want the side to be anyway.

Sooner or later they'll push for upgrades to Redcliffe, probably within the next decade or so, then they'll look to phase Suncorp out as quickly as possible.

The moral of the story is that you can't be everything to everyone, especially when you don't have any intentions of it actually working... It's just like a relocated Bears; hypothetically a Redcliffe owned NRL side representing a significant portion of Brisbane could have been extremely successful, the problem is that they never wanted that and therefore never should have been trusted with it.

It's just too bad that nobody would listen to the people saying this stuff until after the decision was made.
The Nrl got what news ltd wanted, a team that's not Brisbane2, that will look to be out of Brisbane as soon as poss and that wont challenge the Broncos monopoly. Cest le vie

They won't double up games at Suncorp and the ground is out of action for 6 weeks. Perfect time to take games elsewhere

Why not, we can play a full round over a "magic" weekend, but cant play one thursday and Saturday night?

Well they wanted Suncorp used most weeks. So doubling up makes no sense and also other sports/Events use it too so general wear and tear reasons too but also to get new fans using other grounds makes sense

not when those grounds are unfit for NRL games. sub 12k no cover, no corporate facilities Yeh sounds a great plan!
