18th club, whose next?

Subs do but they need to keep it affordable. So ad spac

Of course the market is too small.

ESPN takes the NBL but shows including into the US. Interest is there due to next stars

Paramount plus on sells the A League to foreign Markets.

that is where the Vegas thing being a success helps. Even a couple of hundred k extra that would sub to it helps
ESPN only provides $15m per annum to the NBL for the broadcast rights.

I didn't say they'll offer $250m per annum for the rights.

No..

I think the difference is due to demography, duration and opportunity to screen commercials. Fumbleball appeals to more demographica, runs longer and provided more opportunities to run commercials.

Good argument. Now we are getting somewhere. That does explain why they might get higher deals than the NRL but that doesn’t explain the amount of increase they just obtained or the difference between the two deals.

Demographics don’t change that dramatically over a short period of 5 years. Furthermore the aspect of the game running longer and having more space to run commercials is pre-existing. These things haven’t changed.

We have to have multiple parties bidding for the thing; otherwise the game will get dudded again. That seems obvious.

What do tv say about potential expansion locations?!

The part of the deals we do know is FTA

There is $40m difference, It doesn't take a genius to work out why.

Adding say Perth only, doesn't change that. You would need to add quarters, more tries to allow commercials.

It is why it dumb to compare the 2 instead of looking at the NRL deal in isolation

V'landys made a huge mistake not taking the rights to tender. Perth Red ignores this fact so he can heap undue shit on the Dolphins because he's jealous they got the 17th licence.

Another reason Ch7 pay more for AwFuL is because every non-Victorian team has all of its matches broadcast into its home market on FTA. NRL doesn't do this for non-NSW teams.

Im still trying to figure out Donkeys logic that AFL has become a success and a threat in Brisbane but NRl cant make any headway in Perth or Adelaide. Is he really advocating that AFL is a better sport?

Fumbleball was played in Brisbane before the Northern Union was formed in Huddersfield you dickhead.

The QAFL produced plenty of good players throughout its history.

Western Australians hate rugby league with a passion. The Reds found that out the hard way in 1995. The media over there was hostile to them and people ignored the club. It's a rusted on fumbleball state full of narrow-minded hillbillies.

And RL has been played in WA for 75 years?

WA was once playing against international rep sides and against NSWRL clubs

The club was sponsored by media, as was the WA Reds in the Bundy cup time? Hardly hostile lol. The West employed two RL journalists at the time.

You just have no confidence in our game and believe AFL to be a better product obviously. AFL can thrive in Brisbane but NRL will never survive in Perth or Adelaide? Sounds like something an AFL fan would say to me.

I have no confidence in a Perth team
