hes too dumb too realise it lol.

If it was just about audience size NRL would have dominated the last 3 tv deals, we've come a miserable second each one with the revenue gap widening each time despite the audience gap increasing each time in NRLs favour!

Another 20k fans watching in Brisbane wont make much, if any, difference to value.

a ninth stand alone game and competion for rights is where the value lies. Time for the NRL to do whats best for rugby league, not News ltd or Nine entertainment for a change.

Again. Content is king as has been explained many times

On to the rest of your post

Funny you say to ditch Fox/9

Yet are anti PNG/Nz 2 and going to Vegas all of whom are steps needed to make that even possible

you have no way of proving that. If either the NRL closes the gap with no further metro reach (highly unlikely) or afl abandons its metro strategy and doesnt lose revenue (again highly unlikely) then youd have some evidence for your argument. But we dont so we can only consider it as a major potential variable between the two codes and their respective revenue raising abilities. Theres about to be a $170million a year Australian tv value gap between the codes. Youd have to be pretty stupid to think metro reach isnt some factor.

theres no guarantees in life, and tbh I care about RL and how its travelling not how Ch9 or Foxsports audiences are doing. We already dominate the tv audience charts yet havent got the the value in that. Adding a few thousand more does not necessarily equate to more revenue, as we have just seen with Brisabne2. 47% Brisbane content increase, no $ value from FTA.

FTA obviously doesnt care that much about SEQ other than metro given how little they screen the Titans. Lets hope Dolphins dont dive like Titans did.
You repeat the same lies ad nauseum.

Here's a real life example that f**ks up your theory.

The decline of Super Rugby since it expanded into Perth and Melbourne.

If metropolitan reach is so important then Super Rugby would be more valuable than ever with teams in four of the five metro areas. The game was in a better position when its metropolitan reach was confined to Brisbane and Sydney.

FTA lost four Broncos games. The Broncos are the most watched team in the NRL.

V'landys didn't help the process by extending with Foxtel before negotiating with Ch9.

For Fordham, making the most of this momentum looks like bringing more games to the region – and potentially another team.

Fordham: “We’re really committed to working with the NRL in growing the competition, and Queensland is a big part of that. We think there’s room for another team here in Queensland, and the Dolphins have been the perfect example.

The more games we can get played featuring Queensland teams in Southeast Queensland, the better. The engagement in rugby league here is just next level, and the energy of the crowds has a material impact on the quality of the broadcasts that we make. It helps create atmosphere, it makes the commentary team rise, it makes the production team rise.”

This comment contradicts the following comment.

We literally see pictures galore of them stacked around TV's for big games

I don't think they will ever bid BUT being only in Australia and part of NZ won't get it done either.

So no here will watch the 9th game? It is a 9th game worth of ads to sell.

It gives them 3 games on a Sunday to sell a naming rights sponsor.

6.30 on a Sat night instead of having 100k watching Matty Johns show. They will have 300k watching an NRL games again great to sell to sponsors.

There is no Guarantee any of the new teams will bring in new subs but it is more content to get advertising for.

That is why the 9th game is valuable

Game with Brisbane team will draw bigger audience than perth

It's insane ppl are so bitter about their preferred bid not getting up, that they invent crazy conspiracies like fox being happy to make little return on its NRL investment..

We are a very small fish in the pond.

Foxtel as a whole has only 4.6m subscribers, across the platforms.

We don't have the actual breakdown of the cities but an NRL fan full stop needs Fox Sports, So a vast majority already have it. So it comes to sponsorship and advertisement space. Live sport is also more expensive to broadcast

Netflix has 6m for comparison, Can produce shows/movies for the whole family...

That is the competition right there. If a bid city could get all the Netflix across... Fox would be all in and would pay up big for the right.

So too Amazon, Hell Netflix might even have a crack, but it is what it is. Unless viewers will pay higher $ each month. The money is there for crazy bids

Of course

But we are going to a new area to in theory bring in new money.

Not sure 200k in Perth gets Amazon going for the rights.

A couple of million people in PNG.
Fiji continues to grow.
Hell the game actually gets some traction in the US

That with Perth and the game can really grow

Storm get 15k in Melbourne. Dolphins lifted audience average when non Qld teams play by a third. That's why tv want more se Qld teams..

I wanna hear @wookie address Ur points. Subs make up most of revenue for pay tv / streaming here (usa is about 50%). Also, heard that Amazon & Netflix not interested in Aussie sport because market is so small.

Perth Red and mongoose only see what they want to see. Show them evidence that refutes their claim and they go crazy.

Colk is smarter, but still buys into some of the lies.

Bukowski and Canard are a couple of dumb trolls with a poor comprehension of the English language.

Foxtel provided a metropolitan breakdown of their ratings in 2017. An average of 5k people from Perth were watching NRL games.

The insane ones are the ones who don't want Perth to get a team because the don't like an internet poster.

I don't believe some ppl here believe half the things they write. They're just bitter & venting because it appears a Perth team is further off than ever.

Colk is evangelical in his belief of expansion, which is commendable to have such passion, but obscures reality: for example NRL aren't going to prop up teams in new markets like AFL. As ppl get older they become more shrewd to these things.

Bukowski seems like a failed alt account created by somebody not good at comedy.

I don't know who canard is?!

Humor is subjective: some never seem to get a punchline yet always laugh at the misfortunes of others. I think I know which category u fit into..

Wow that’s an accusation and a half. Also from a person who says he doesn’t make personal attacks on top.

And all because I didn’t laugh at your poor fat joke or short man joke hmm.

I can understand their passion for Perth. Hence the reason I genuinely wanted a Perth-based team at one stage.

Perth might have to wait another 20 or 30 years for a spot to open up. The ARLC isn't going to provide a variable funding scheme to cover expansion into Adelaide and Perth.

PNG is contingent on Gov funding.

I'm happy for PNG to get a team via Gov funding because they love the game more than anyone else on Earth.

I imagine there will be millions of people across PNG who will follow this team with the same level of passion and pride that swept across Australia when we won the America's Cup.

I won't be too upset if the NRL leave it at 18 teams after admitting PNG.
