Just putting it out there but Ponga looks like he is taking the piss. I think he wants AOB gone so not trying at all. Tried a bit yesterday so he gets called up for QLD. Hopefully he starts trying again under a new coach and system.

We’ve got decent juniors for a while to be honest, Flegg lost a grand final to an Isaiya Katoa field goal in 2022, both SG Ball and Mats also made the GF in 2023 but unfortunately guys just don’t seem to kick on after Flegg and I think a big part of that is not having a strong nsw cup program.
We know there’s a big step up from age grade footy to playing against men, when you try to take that step up in a side that is used to losing it makes that transition even more difficul

We should have a strong NSW cup team… because a fair chunk of first grade should be there

It’s all about optics from here imo. The board need to show that they’re capable of making tough decisions and if they can’t move on a coach who clearly has run out of ideas then they can be on the chopping block too.

I know I've said this before, but AOB isn't the one out there dropping balls or missing tackles, ect. And he's not coaching them to do that. But he doesn't seem to be coaching them NOT to do that either. I've really hoped he would have been the one to succeed at the Knights. I've really wanted him to bring success to the Knights. I just can't see it happening, especially now.

He has brought a lot to the players and the club, but what he has brought is everything that he's got ... and we need more and different things now.

100% the bloke has given his all to this club. No doubt about it, and he should be proud of what he’s done with his time here. But it’s time to acknowledge that he can’t do any more and if he continues in his role it’s actually a detriment to the club.

This is roughly where I'm at. I actually don't think he's even saying much wrong. We DO need to work through it. We don't have the squad depth to make unforced changes so that's our only real choice. Given a lot of the question he gets in the presser there's nothing much wrong he says.

I don't think anyone else is going to come in and do a good job with this team, especially anyone who is available.

The only reason I think it's worth discussing is it looks like the playing group has finally turned on him.. Rather than take any responsibility.

One of my most disliked coaches we've had. Had huge raps and came from a great system as an assistant but never actually coached even in lower grades prior to being an NRL coach if I'm not mistaken.

Guy is in way too deep at this level. Never even liked the way he talks. Never convincing. Sort of a slack jawed drawl that reminds me of the clueless Hagan. Guy done nothing for the club and has underachieved overall imo but whatever, he's done as of this coming week.

I echo many here in favour of John Morris. Thought he was very hard done by at Cronulla. He actually put his stamp on the side in a positive way, something AOB has never done. We've played some of the worst footy in the clubs history under this guy. Can't wait until he's gone.

Watch back some of the things we do in attack sometime, in the weeks where it’s really not working. We run the same shape over and over. The defence doesn’t even care about presenting a staggered line - they just rush up on the three possible ball recipients. CRUNCH.

And that’s when we’re actually trying to run some shape. The rest of the time there’s so much one out running, no decoys, no support, no shape. No plan outside of our middles somehow winning 1 on 3 physical contests so we get a quick play the ball. Also even if we DO win what should be a quick PTB but it becomes a slow one due to ruck shenanigans, and it’s not pinged, we don’t really have a plan B… we’re running the same boring shapes. Against a set defence just chomping at the bit to put a shot on.

No he’s not dropping the ball himself. But the way we play puts players in positions where a dropped ball is a very likely outcome of what we’re doing. The players are swimming in the ocean; he covered them in blood and guts before they dived in. It’s at least a little bit his fault when the shark eats them, isn’t it?

Probably not a popular opinion but I want to hold onto KPP to see what he can do under a good/different coach. His defense is impeccable. I think he is going to be special weapon in attack under a different system.

Likewise. I know at another club, or under a different coach, he could be a weapon. He hasn't been utilised to his strengths with us since he arrived.

Sadly I don't think we'll ever see him under a good coach, it looks like he's off to the Tigers.
