Yes and paid what ever they wanted to.The big name centres they had back then were players they developed.

The other thing to take from this is obviously the point that NRL coaches do not like defending scrums in the red zone. They much prefer the straight line of defense. Which begs the further question why on gods green earth did they change the rule that a 40/20 results in a scrum to it results in a tap?Was it the Parra game where we saw the defense deliberately giving up scrum penalties (near try line) by not packing in time OR by blatantly breaking the scrum early rather than allow the scrum play (to the frustration of the ref)?
Is this rampant in the league?
What do we glean from this?
Should it not be a catalyst for a wider conversation about coaches and rules?
Unless we release at least one of Simonsson, Penisini, Russell, JAC or Lomax, or if Averillo spends a year at 5/8th until we do, then I don’t think we have wise space for Averillo
Isn’t Elliot more of a middle and aren’t we in the mix for Garner ?
I’m any case all of the above improve us
Yeah I see Samrani more as Niukore type edge/emergency centre.yeah, the issue is that we also have Renisini and Samrani in the 30 unless of course we make Jordie into an edge forward but I'm not a big fan of both those guys despite the fact that theyre only low tier T30 level players.
That was our weakness for long time though, having less mobile edges. Elliott would be surplus as wellelliot can play edge, he's got more experiance thwere than Jack W and we've had to use Jack there a few times.
They just need to win.The Tigers ARE in fact a terrible sporting organisation. They have no identity, no soul, no nothing.
I genuinely thought the best option was to relocate them to Perth before Norths got it and now I think we should just remove them.
I watched 1st Grade at Erina Sunday with a cracking game of 1st vs 2nd. The Central Coast won’t be considered due to its proximity to Sydney but let me tell you, Wyong would not only be one of the richest clubs if they entered, but they’d field a top side. So so much quality there with a brilliant nursery.
Anyway I digress. But the Tigers are an embarrassment on the Wests brand. It’s not ever going to work.
There are so many far more deserving clubs. Club that stand for something, with rich history people could get behind. The Tigers are a disgrace.
Renisini is already looking like one of those kids that looks like a speciman but early indicators he is injury prone with different ways to find an injury.yeah, the issue is that we also have Renisini and Samrani in the 30 unless of course we make Jordie into an edge forward but I'm not a big fan of both those guys despite the fact that theyre only low tier T30 level players.
We have 29 players on contract for 2026, this includes debelin and desilva , this also includes matterson lane and hands who we'd expect not to be here giving us potentially 4 spots if all 3 players moved onSome jerkoff tells me we have 3 spots available next season, but also they haven’t excluded Lane, and that is also assuming Matterson is still here. Edit- then I realised he hadn’t included De Belin… FFS Pou.
So 2, probably 3, maybe 4 spots left.
I’d say we’d be looking, in order of priority, in market for:
Genuine starting edge forward (especially if Lane comes off cap)
Backup/bench prop (or better if they viewed as Junior replacement)
Starting 5/8th - below prop simply because of likelihood one being available
Holding spot until required to fill 30 players - probably just elevate Smith or maybe Latu
The Ponissi of the west getting it done.

TDS is ALL speed and running game.
Ryley Smith is slow and has no running game?
Now do Mitchell MosesTDS is ALL speed and running game.
When you guys signed Joffa (Who I loved and didnt want to leave) I was kind enough to come here and share with you his strengths and weaknesses and what you would like and not like, and of course I was proven to be 100% correct.
Because you merkins asked so nicely, I'll do the same with TDS (who I like and would have liked to stay but prefer Api).
TDS at 20yo has an almost elite running game and is super dangerous running from dummy half. Can score a try. Thats the good news.
TDS has a NSW cup level passing game from DH. He has a reasonably quick pass, but particularly when he is tiring, its can be erratic and in particular our forwards have to pause for his passes. He is a kid and this could and should improve.
TDS has a high Jersey Flegg level defence. He knows how to, he gets in reasonable position but gets pushed off very easily, gets worse later in the game. Could/should improve as he gets older/bigger.
I think he will be your 9 for the next 10 years and I think he will be very good player for you guys.
