It will be tough to get a gauge on some of these guys given the circumstances, the reality is they are likely to be steamrolled.

That being said Billy Phillips is one to watch, should come on at lock. Lovely passing game for a lock/prop.

Whilst I am confident we can fire in the finals, I would not be willing to put my house on us going beyond week 2. I think a prelim would be phenomenal and making the GF a notch above. Winning the whole lot, geez we have to go through a murderers row of opponents with what I think is our weakest side in the past 6 years.

I love the confidence from some others here though!

It'd be no tougher than 2021, particularly when you consider players playing busted that year. We were hardly firing in attack then either. The 3 wins were pure grind.

Yes and no. We no longer have players that can create something by themselves like Api and Kiks or Luai's rock soild defence. Even Critter did things Casey isn't yet capable of and Tago can only dream of doing.

What we do have is experience but the worry is 2025 has been Nathan's worst year in half a decade. Hopefully this rest (ideally 2 weeks) gives our 7 time to sort himself. His running game has been almost non existent for the last few months and when he's not running he's far less effective.

I think this is partially true. I definitely agree the wins were grind. Where I don’t necessarily agree is it being no tougher than 2021. Our guys are 4 years older and going by the eye test not as fit as they were then. I have nothing more to support that claim other than from what I’ve seen this season. We just don’t appear to be as fit aerobically.
Ivan giving them all a rest will hopefully help recharge the mental and physical batteries. We pushed for the top 4 and we’ve suffered a bit of a nosebleed in the last 2 weeks.

looking forward to recharging myself over the next couple of weeks too.

I personally can't wait to see what we have in store for the Doggies.

We've got at least 5 guys who are playing for contracts next year, at least 3 who have already signed elsewhere, and the rest are depth. But what an opportunity to audition for the big time.

If we jag a try early, or if someone gets a Cat 1 HIA, it's game on.

I'd regard it as the greatest win in our history. And absolutely one of the best ever seen in Rugby League.

Removing 16 first graders from a team and winning against a quality opponent would just be ludicrous. Especially when the team coming in hasn't been having an amazing year in reserves.

If we were coming in against a bottom 6 club I'd absolutely back our chances. In this case, I think the Dogs will have too much juice and won't want to be embarrassed by even a close scoreline. That said, there are some decent, hungry players in that squad and I think we're a better chance than the betting odds suggest.

I think we'll wait and see who wins this week. We are a far better side than Brisbane but we probably don't want to travel up there week 1.
I dunno about resting everyone again next week

I'd have dyl, Nathan, Tago and Kenny on the bench, the rest mix up

I can imagine that Ivan will walk into the dressing room tomorrow night and will say If we lose tonight none of you be offered new contracts for next year however if we win tonight none of you will be offered a new contract for next year.

Hope so I got my hand up for one of those contracts .Just once rest the whole club .Just to run out in the mighty panther jersey one hit up one time .The roar of the crowd go the mighty panthers .The ultimate accolades would be to have chins bag me .Then and only then would I know I have made it

I want to see big Luron going beast for 40 minutes and Cole showing the kind of game he had against Melbourne to unlock what is a dangerous enough backline. I think you'd just absolutely go at Galvin and try and rattle him into pushing the play. Outside of Critta that side lacks some experienced, intelligent heads. Put them under pressure and who knows, our Cup side has plenty of experience through it, they could just pull it off.

Ivan gets to rest his top squad,we get to see who can handle the step up in case injuries strike. And the ones who can't will be shown the door if they haven't been tapped on the shoulder already. Most of us dont get to watch any of the nsw cup games so I'm looking forward to seeing how the boys go.Its important to stay with the dogs for as long as we can, when there's a miss match like this if you concede a couple of early tries confidence will be shot and the flood gates opened.

As an added bonus, we don't have to worry about a player coping a suspension at a crucial time of the year out of this game. Free rain guys. Swing them hard if you get my drift.
