As expected really, thought the boys did well all things considered, 10-nil at halftime with a sin binning thrown in, pretty good.

Wouldnt read to much into anyones performance, the boys were on back foot all game, that takes a lot out of them physically and limits their chances to do something impressive. Daine really stepped up, best FB performance wevve had for a few weeks!

If I can admit I was wrong about Schneider then hopefully Ivan can swallow his pride and pick another 14. We have at least 10 better options for the role. Even that demented creepy little f**k Soni Luke

Last night's game was a bit of a paradox for me. I was really impressed, but also terribly disappointed. Surprised, yet not.

I was impressed by Price, Phillips & Fale. I think they played above themselves.

Thought Somerton, Luke, Geyer and Laurie showed they can hang in the NRL, even in a well beaten team. All showed really good physicality that I haven't seen consistently from them. Laurie had some really special plays on both sides of the ball.

Alamoti was far too quiet in the first half. We really needed his leg speed and explosiveness coming off our line. And he was MIA, other than knocking out Kurt Mann. Looked likely in the second half - but I really expected more. Didn't play like he wanted Jenkins jersey.

Schneider is an absolute snail. Played behind a beaten pack, but was just terrible. Even when he had time (kicking for touch after a penalty), he just can't execute. Cannot be our #14 for the finals.

Cole had a mixed night. Was chopped and changed between 5/8, Halfback and Centre, both sides of the field. Made some excellent tackles - but also cleaned missed a couple too. Not sure he's an NRL level half - but I think he'd make a fist of #14 - able to cover anywhere in the backline, hooker and lock. He's tough, and has good hands. He just needs better calibre players around him.

I'll also give a shout-out to Eiso. I think the concussion to Somerton (and HIA for Luke) forced him to play longer minutes than planned. And while he's never going to be a game breaker, he kept showing up in defence, and tried his hardest to change the point of attack amongst the forwards.

The biggest takeaway from the game though was how impatient the Bulldogs were. Lots of white-line fever. They reminded me of an Under 12s team who are full of kids that have already hit puberty - so much faster and stronger, always going to win. But they wanted to be flashy, and not work for it.

If the Dogs play like that against any team in September, they'll lose.

This should have been the game that they practiced restraint. Death by a thousand cuts. But they couldn't commit to it. And they've likely lost Kiraz for a few weeks too. They're cooked. Gone in straight sets.

There has never been a worse kicking display in the NRL. Finding touch 10 metres down field when you're still in your own half is beyond bad. He averaged 25 metres a kick with zero grubbers.

Jack Cole averaged 35 metres a kick. Soni Luke averaged 32m a kick and both guys had a grubber. When you're kicking from your own half all game and averaging 25 metres a kick. You are the reason you are in your half all game.

Do those stats include bombs?

Had a few bad fumbles last night which is a worry

Yeah but they were all under the pump i think, the only performace i give any real credence to is Daines as did really look the part of an NRL fullback. The guys who had some errors or didnt play well at all just need to take with a grain of salt to some extent.

Watch the game again and look at when momentum first turned against us.

First attacking set we had reasonable shape... and then Brad Schneider gets the ball and runs backwards about 10 metres and gets tackled without even looking to pass. Momentum lost in that set and we are playing off the back foot because of him. Not getting a chance to create a try

Next attacking set we had reasonable shape, and then Brad Schneider gets the ball and holds it looking to pass. An hour later he decides to pass the ball directly to a Bulldogs player who had stopped in our line and almost got bored waiting for him to pass it. From that point on we didn't get back to the Bulldogs half for another 20 minutes or so.

He kicked off the back foot all game because his kicking was so goddamn shit the Bulldogs started every single set in great field position. Finished every set off in our half and we had to work it up field. There has never been a worse kicking display in the NRL. Finding touch 10 metres down field when you're still in your own half is beyond bad. He averaged 25 metres a kick with zero grubbers.

Look; I think Schneider is as crap as the next guy but the kicking stats last night for Schneider were impacted by what was an obvious game plan to kick for touch.

He kicked that short we spent the first half playing inside our own 50m. Dogs were starting sets on halfway at times. The bloke can’t manage a team.

He has 100 metres of sideline to hit. He should have been aiming to kick for touch inside or near the opposition 20. Pretty sure Ivan expected more from his kicks too. Based on him stopping at halftime.

If he isnt skilled enough to kick for touch further up field. Put the ball dead. Even a 7 tackle set from the 20 metre line is better than 90% of the kicks he put into touch. Handing the ball over to Bulldogs between the 40 metre lines is just asking to never see their half of the field. Our hslfback denied us any chance at being in the game.

Because those kicks were the reason both teams played the game in Panthers half. to be fair Galvin had an equally bad early kick. 3rd tackle boots it doen field to Laurie on the full. Letting us start a set off around the 40m line.
