Honestly, we are terrible at T20 cricket.

Wouldn't go that far tbh

We actually have gone alright last 12-18 months

Ranked no2 just behind india

We are trying out some new guys in this Pakistan 3 match tour (3 debutants last night ,2 of which were run out lol) Half the main side ain't playing , and a few guys that are playing havent been in great form , which is a bit worrying eg Connolly, Owen, Short, But I guess that what this tour is about, get some of these guys going, and have a look at some new blokes. Expecting us to lose 0-3 but like Twiz said, more of warm up series for us.

Inglis to replace Phillipe alone improves the batting

Not sure how we don't just play Smith he is in great form

Think they need to officially finalise/announce the WC squad by the end of tomorrow

But I think beyond that, the only way Smith gets to the WC is an injury replacement unfortunately

Must admit our top 6-7 can be pretty lethal, but a few guys down on form is the worry

It was a warm up game, I wouldn't take too much from it.
I didn't watch a ball all series.

But looking at the scorecards the non-competitiveness in all facets of the game its truly embarrassing.

I grew up watching the Aussie team from 1999 onwards at the start of there dominance under Waugh.

Every Test Match & ODI game Australia played not only felt like it was important but also going out and winning every game to create an aura & psyche over the opposition never giving them an inch.

The current state of international cricket is worse then that it was 20-25 years ago and the game is poorer for it.

Thanks to T20 Franchise cricket killing the game.

The T20Is are a complete farce we hand out Australian caps now like there smarties these days to anyone who scored a quickfire 20 in a BBL game while we leave out Steve Smith & Alex Carey two of the better players of spin.

We have cheapened the Australian Jersey in Cricket.

We play T20 world cups every 2 years which is overkill.

We have the Australian Captain sit out of a world cup but be 100% fit for the IPL to collect his bonus paycheck on top of the millions CA pay him.

And to top it off we now have 2 x Asian countries full ICC Members (Pakistan & Bangladesh) boycotting against playing India.

I fear where the sport i love is going.

I thought this was a piss take

But actually the English cricket team account.

I suppose when you f**k all trophies.

Celebrate a pointless series like its a world cup.

It was that big a series @TheParraboy didn't even have a thread for it on the cricket board.

It didnt feel that long ago that the last World Cup was in USA aside from the Americans beating Pakistan, I barely know what the results were, whether its because I didnt have access to Prime or just wasnt interested. I mean I couldnt keep up with the tournament results or winners over the years, given theyre played every 2 years.

When they first introduced t20 internationals I thought it was quite good but they played 1 or 2 before or after an ODI series. Now its very hit and miss and the sides are completely different to tests and ODI's. I think its good to have developing nations play it but as time goes by are they completely focused on T20's or will they progress to ODI's or test matches?

At least with the ODI world cups a lot of the matches have been quite memorable, especially the Aus/Afg match, the 2019 world cup final and the 2015 tournament. But you dont have too many matches in between World Cups which is sad in a way, given how many matches were played after or during a test series in the summer.

I echo your point about the sport you love. As a big cricket fan, I love test cricket and some of the best cricket matches Ive seen over the years have been test matches but I fear that'll be basically a contest between 3 nations, Aus, Eng and India, where other nations would primary focus on T20 internationals or the big name stars would take the big bucks in t20 competitions.

Nepal almost beat the Poms last night.

And judging by there fan base they could be a nation to watch out for in the next decade.

The Nepalise crowd there looked as loud and as passionate as an Indian crowd.

They rode every ball like it was a world cup final.

I saw someone point out last night on socials which is probably a fair argument.

Everyone like myself lol bitching and moaning about T20 world cups every 2 years.

Unless there is a T20 world cup when do Nepal or these countries get to play England or these big nations and get better.

USA pushed India
Netherlands were a drop catch from beating Pakistan.

The talent is there the funding to improve grassroots isnt.

Considering we go to india almost exclusively how hard is it to tap on 2 T20s in Nepal as well at the end or before a tour and actually grow the game.

Bangladesh and Pakistan are in a constant battle with off field nonsense.

Like we have given Bangladesh 30 years and there still a rabble due to politics.

Afghanistan have enough issues.

But Nepal could be the next sleeping giant in Asia of world cricket. Its the number 1 sport there now ahead of soccer
