Rumoured Targets 3

Different stages of their career though tbf. Although I do think Leo’s value was inflated by media hype. I doubt Barnett is on $800K at the Warriors anyway, and given he’s moving for family reasons I doubt he’ll be demanding a bigger deal than he’s already on.
agreed Leo was over paid IMO, Dogs took a punt, but is on 800K and an unproven Trey Mooney is on 500K? ......my guess considering he is a Aust/ SOO rep that Barny's market value is around 850-950K

I'm not sure if we'd have the coin for Barny, unless the call of home is greater than $$

Would be great to get him back, but losing sleep over it is not something we should contemplate. The club’s big decisions will be driven by Kalyn’s plans beyond November. Cos if he does sign the life deal Sully has been talking about then keeping Sharpey becomes Mt Everest for us. Everyone will be in for him.

Storm would have had approx 3.7 in the spine when Paps was there. I reckon we'll keep Sharpe for a while yet. The media bangs the drum for clicks,

With all the talk of Barnett coming off contract I had a look at other senior props available for 2027 and one name stood out, Junior Paulo

I reckon we take a long look at him. Would be great for the PI forwards we have coming through

Barry suggesting our interest in Barnett is said to be no greater than lukewarm at best. It was more an inquiry. I think that more or less sums it up. Some Old Boys are quoted as wanting us to go for it. The club may be interested, but it would seem POS is not in agreement. And we are led to believe he agreed to come here with near full autonomy. At guess he wants no risk to the cap gambling on a nearly 32 year old injury prone player.

The only reason you wouldnt want a player of his caliber is $$$

Sully must be unwilling to move players on to make room under the cap for a 32 yr old nearing the end of his career coming off a serious injury. We should be applauding the move if that's indeed the case.

The Knights recruitment of old would have signed him to a multi-year record deal.

I know we like to shit on JSaf, but he’s the only prop we have that can consistently pump out 100+ metres.

Just on that: good to see Mooney crack 130m when he’s still just adjusting to the nrl. When was the last time Leo did that? We might not have just replaced him, but gotten an upgrade.

Leo did it in his last game for us (136m vs Sharks) but it was a rare occurrence. Only cracked 130m twice last season, and 6 times total in his 80 games here.

A lot regarding distance run by props is based on receiving kick offs and having 20mts to run building up a good head of speed do that a few times and your well on way to 100+mts and often it’s the same prop making the charge so he has the bigger stats

Mere speculation on my part. O’Sullivan does not give off the vibe of wanting to buy back the farm at a higher price.

Bit of a rarity these days. Most props are met by a wall of defenders 10m out from their line on a kick off and nearly all drop outs are short and fielded by an outside back. Far less stat padding these days.

Both Safs careers have been disappointing for the hopes I had when they entered NRL. Thought they could have been really special.

Didn't we debut them at 18? And practically ran the poor C's into the ground, quite a few careers that got killed during Browns rebuild. - Necessary evil though thanks to the plague pit that Bennett left our club in.
