It's time to say the Brand the Red V the club and history has been sacrificed since the JV with illawarra the DNA has been lost.

It's been since 1999 the merger with 1 Premiership 2010 and nothing since the signing a all time premiership winning coach in Wayne Bennett for success.
The Gordons have on the sly moved the whole office and staff to the Gordons centre in Wollongong.
But they still dont get it that after attending the St George leagues club before game yesterday was full with Dragons supporters all in Red V jerseys is the club with Dragons history and memories that makes fans come and enjoy the atmosphere surrounded by all Red V members.
You dont get that when games are played at Win stadium wollongong.

The one common denominator over the last 15 years is the board. This is the mess they have created. This is their legacy

In that 2010 Premiership win, nearly half of that side were juniors from the Illawarra.

Three years later, then CEO Peter Doust came up with a genius plan. He announced that there would of only be four games in Wollongong, four at Kogarah and the rest at Accor and old SFS. Or in another way, four in Wollongong, eight in Sydney. Fans in the Illawarra region were so "happy" with that arrangement.

Doust wanted the Dragons to expand their business model and the deal is about ensuring the club's long term financial sustainability. But in the process, he alienated fans in the Illawarra.

Fast forward to this year, the Gordons have the Dragons play five home games at Win, seven in Sydney. And yesterday, just over 8,000 turned up at Kogarah.

Point is, the club has been mismanaged for a long time and have avoided to make a tough decision. Such as moving games from Kogarah Oval to Allianz stadium. Allianz and Win are under the VenusNSW umbrella . Kogarah is not part of VenusNSW, which makes it more difficult to get funding for an upgrade.

I have changed my mind, for the short term pain and for having a complete dominance of the St George Dragons brand( screw Illawarra)Dean Young needs to be appointed as head coach, it's a simple as that!

I find the desire to ditch Illawarra in this forum just weird. If you were born in 1980, you went through a very lean time, 1985 notwithstanding. I was at all of those St George GFs in the 90’s and we were no real hope of winning any of them. Courageous, but really we had become a tiny suburban team with a rubbish ground (remember the toilet troughs?), a couple of good players and the faded 1950’s grandeur of St George Leagues.
We are garbage at the moment but there is hope. We should embrace that region and its juniors, and connect with the past of both clubs like the Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions do. Live together or die alone.

1980 Semis, 1983 Semi, 1984 Semi, 1985 GF, 1988*Panasonic Cup Winners, 1992 GF, 1993 GF, 1995 Semi, 1996 GF, 1998 Semi, 1999 GF.
Made the Semi/GF 10 Times in 20 years, may not have won the big one...I remember 84/85 we were the best team in those 2 years and ended up with nothing, had 3 teams in the 85GF came away with the lower grades and got pipped by the "EGG" with his field goal in the end and the Bulldogs tactics of constantly bombing GBurgess, in 1992 we were just glad to make the GF never in the game, 1993 we played our worse game for the year, injury didn't help to Stevens, 1996 we had no team literally, Tallis sat out the season, David Mason decided to screw us in saying, SeaEagles best team between 95-97 and the heartbreak of 1999 We should have won end of story.
I'm a realist we are not ditching Illawarra as much as supporters may want it aint happening but those 2 decades we were still successful in playing GF and semis, mixed with a few shit years with Glossop and CYoung in charge..

This divide is really starting to gain traction, especially on Facebook — and you can clearly see a growing push from non-Dragons supporters to essentially erase St George from the NRL altogether.
Honestly, I’m at the point where I’m fine with that conversation — because for me it’s simple:
It’s either all in on St George Dragons
Or scrap it completely and start fresh
But if it’s the second option, then it has to be a clean break.
No half measures.
No “keeping the Dragons name for history.”
No watered-down version of what once was.
If they reset, then nothing remotely connected to the St George Dragons name should be used. That name carries too much history, too much meaning, to be attached to another compromised version of this joint venture.
The reality is, this middle ground we’ve been stuck in for years just hasn’t worked.
The joint venture was meant to combine strengths, but instead it’s diluted identity, created division, and delivered inconsistent results for decades. It hasn’t fully represented St George, and it hasn’t fully satisfied Illawarra either.
At some point, you’ve got to be honest:
This merge has failed to deliver what it promised.
So make a call:
Go all in on St George Dragons, restore the identity properly
or
End it completely and start again — with a totally new identity
Because this in-between version isn’t working for anyone.

It needs to be Dragons and keep all history and all premierships intact illawarra needs removing from the name as it stands illawarra steelers sold out to the Gordons years ago .
As have the Roosters naming has changed numerous times over the years also other clubs.
Dragons have a leagues club and is doing well in profits.
Games in wollongong yes all good but if the board completely changes the Brand it would be all and each 1 of them that needs to be removed .
This is the Board and only club that members can't vote or have a say this is why its a disgrace the Nrl should step in and resolve it asap .
The decisions made by the Board since the JV has failed and should be removed before its to late all members and Red V will cancel memberships for 2027.

Frankly I fail to see how Riccio's proposal will make any difference. It will still be a joint venture half owned by St George and half owned by WIN. The Board will still be the same handbrake it is now when it comes to making timely and well-considered decisions. Management will still be the same collection of people without any footy smarts, making the same dud calls on coaching staff and the playing roster.

If we start fresh I’m done for good. Bring back st.George dragons. I’m done with the Illawarra cancer

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong thread earlier:
Number of clubs to have won a premiership since St George Illawarra Dragons’ last one in 2010: 8.
Number of years that St George went without winning a premiership between their last one and the start of the NRL: 19. If you want to count 2010, and I am unsure if many St George fans do, it’s 31.
I don’t love a lot of things about the club at the moment, but titles are hard to win. I have heard us compared unfavourably to the Bulldogs so many times, but a Dogs fan who was born in the last year they won a premiership now drives to the pub to watch games.
If we don’t have Illawarra, we aren’t in the league, it’s that simple. We watch our team play the Jets at Henson Park (quite a nice day out) in the NSW Cup and hope that a benefactor starts us up in Adelaide in about 30 years.

I like how Riccio and others stick it to the merged clubs when they have won a comp this century and Parra haven't. The merged clubs can't be that bad if they won a comp before Parra. Warriors and Titans yet to win a comp as well. It took the Sharks a looooong time to win their first comp.

If the St George Illawarra merge is so bad how come they have not had a spoon yet? I may have spoke to soon as they may get it this year, but the Dogs and Parra which are the NRL darlings have won spoons since the merge.

If the Dragon's part with Illawarra, the Dogs, Sharks and Roosters will pounce to get a piece of the Illawarra and that is what the NRL are hoping for. Saints have the best pathways but idiots in charge by the looks of it to use it to their advantage. If Cleary came to Saints like he did to the Warriors and Panthers, the Dragons would become a force. They should really sell it to him as a project to get Cleary across.

It's time to dissolve or fold, this club has made me hate Rugby League totally. I haven't watched a proper game since 2019, the NRL, the media, South Sydney, Cronulla and co, have systematically by design sent there little worms to destroy the St George Dragons brand forever.
Paul K on his pathetic podcast turns around and says that if you take away St George's 11 in a Row, they've only won 5 premierships in 105 years, like WTF, so that's to say Penriffs last 4 premierships is an Illusion or Parramatta's 3 in Row doesn't exist. I'm totally shocked by the actions of people.

End the JV this now is a roller-coaster its been getting worse every year . We have the Gordons as a billion dollar owner and we haven't improved all we got this season is a Gordon centre of excellence with possibly a coach being sacked and possibly a wooden spoon 2026.

I'd rather have Elon Mask as the owner, he could send this shit club a one way ticket to Mars, with all those fwitz that decided to destroy this once Proud club.
