Are Newcastle the 2008 version of the 2005 Tigers?

It doesn't worry me, I just find it hilarious you're attempting to have a go at the Knights - why does their coaching situation worry you? That question is just as relevant.

 You're just taking pot shots now.

I'm not attempting to have a go at the Knights.
All I stated was facts which are that the 2005 Tigers had a coach who has WON GF's. The Knights have a coach who has LOST GF's.
I didn't know that Knights fans need big bad timmah to come into threads to look after them. Hero.

lol... i don't think we'll win it this year. we'll make the 8 no worries though, may even make the top 4 if we peak at the right time.

smith has done an amazing job with the club over the past 12 months or so. im absolutely stoked. he has the cattle to break his premiership drought over the next year or 2... don't worry about that.

 Personal attacks now. Well done.

I couldn't give two sh*ts about the Knights but when an Eels fan tries to have a go it's just a hoot.

Newcastle are currently here on the ladder:
6th

Parramatta are currently here on the ladder:
11th

If you're debating facts perhaps you should get that one straight.

Newcastle won a premiership and were a force under Hagan because of their halfback, not their coach. As evidenced by their fall from grace when Johns was injured or after he retired, Hagan wasn't that great.

The Eels in 2007 had the cattle that Smith had built up, and with his woeful recruitment and retention history they already look to be on the slide without a major playmaker like Joey to steer them around.

If you as an Eels fan think you can go open slather on the Knights, then expect someone to have a go at your club too. I'm fully prepared to acknowledge the facts my club is flailing in both the coaching and on-field departments, are you?

BTW I'm prepared to give Moore a chance next year before making blind judgements such as the one you've just made

Lol, so maybe Smith should have recruited a major playmaker instead of players like kusto and Thorman.

lol.. i can feel the smith hate radiating off scottyeel from here.

suck to be a parra fan right now. dont worry though, you'll still have the "smith has never won a premiership" quip until he nabs one with us. you'll then realise you just never had the cattle.

The only way the knights will finish hgher then 13th, if they have hometown Badger who was the man of the match as ref for all thier home games

QQ more, emo man.

I love seeing Parra fans in here trying to disguise their Smith hate as anything else. We said it as soon as the 'trade' happens. Hagan is a dunce pretending to be a coach. Enjoy a season of mediocrity.

But according to Timmah we did have the cattle.
And there is no Smith hating here, he is great for building a busted club back up as he showed at parramatta and newcastle already. I just don't think he will ever get the big one but.

I think they did have the cattle, just not the ticker when it mattered.

It's the Parramatta club culture.

come on, lets be honest now. have a look at the newcastle team that played parra in the '01 grand final and then have a glance at the parra team. it's a miracle how much they dominated that year in the first place. they were never going to beat the knights that day.

smith constantly over achieved at parra. while he made some dodgy calls on recruitment and retention (a lot which were forced by the salary cap)... he also made some very good decisions in that department. currently, at the knights, all of his recruits are looking the goods and we have masses of young talent that he has kept from within the club. we have more depth in most positions than a lot of clubs have in ANY one position. hell, we can even beat quality opposition without star players (simpson and buderus against the tits).

smith not being able to win big games is a complete myth. we've paved the way for other teams this year showing them how to beat competition heavyweights. we've had the strategy in place to beat every team we've come up against this year, and if it weren't for a few penalties here and there, we could easily be 5 - 2 or 6 - 1 this year.

Thanks Moffo, we're gonna cop 2007 again now that you've just said that :p Thanks for the compliment anyway.

This is not a Parra-Smith thread...moving on! I'm very excited about where we're heading and should have no problems staying in the 8 over the next year or two.

Great detailed post about the issues and argument at hand.

If all you've got is personal attacks based on someone else's brand of humour, then it's clear where you stand.

Maybe we didn't. Maybe St George didn't either. We'll see in 5 years.
