Clubs wrong about Lyon

Its the biggest crock of crap ive ever heard of. Fancy Melbourne, Brisbane and any other NRL club for that matter demanding Lyon should step down from the NRL for ethical reasons, just because he doesnt want to play rep football??

Absurd. jamie lyon has done nothing unethical. he hasnt shamed anyone or anything. he just said he isnt available to play rep footy. And THATS what is fundamentally wrong with Football today. The over emphasised importance of origin is the thing thats absurd here.

origin used to mean a hell of a lot more 20 years ago, because of history, than it does today. It may be the toughest league arena anywhere, but it sure doesnt out rank the more important aspect of representing your country. and it never will. nor should it.

These clubs that live for Origin time, are over stepping the mark and unfairly expressing vitriol towards Lyon.

all NRL clubs should pull their mouth guards out of their Hoppa-holes, and take a big serious look at themselves and the state of their code. Origin is a good money spinner, and to teh players its the ultimate physical challenge. But a player's unwillingness to partake in this redneck infested feast, is no excuse to demand that player stand down. If only the origin Show Ponies, cared more about their clubs than this repetitive and often boring fixture called Origin.

Jamie Lyon, Im not a huge fan, but I can say, hold your head up high and do your club proud this weekend.

Hey Newcastle, I suppose it wasn't morally wrong for you to play your drug cheats in the 1997 Grand Final, Stop your whinging you losers. Lyon was never chosen and therefore he never pulled out. He said he would play if chosen but he was never chosen.

if he was selected for origin, then pulled out, then he can't play.
but
he wasn't selected for origin so that rule doesn't apply so he can play.

clubs should stop whinging

LOL @ nomis for still being a poor loser

FTR I agree that it is a little piss poor for the clubs to be calling for the fat one to be stood down this weekend. If he doesnt want to play rep footy then its his loss so I fail to see how it is immoral at all.

Agree with this
Bellamy should have officially selected him
If he did and Lyon pulled out then he wouldn't be eligible for this weekend's game, just as a player ruled out of the SOO through injury wouldn't be able to play this weekend.

The rules are explicit. Jamie Lyon cannot refuse to play rep football unless he has prior approval from the ARL. If he refuses to play, and that hasn't been totally qualified yet, the League has every right to tell Manly he is ineligible to play against Newcastle. There are precedents where clubs have refused to stand players down and been docked winning competition points.

Bellamy has really overstepped the mark here.

Newcastle have every right to be filthy on him.

I love how you call it a redneck feast - Why don't you go support AFL?
Anyway,I think more needs to be said before throwing around accusations.

As others have said,if Lyon was selected and decided he didn't want to play then that's fair enough.

It was more about bagging those who support it and the players out really.
I don't care that people dislike Origin but it's mirror to what rival sports supporters say:S.

If Stewy didn't need this game to cement a spot in the Kangaroos squad, (The international game is vastly more important than some wankfest played purely for the benefit of Queenslanders and pretend Queenslanders) I wouldn't give a flying f**k if he didn't play either. Bellamy's a Manly Hating wanker who thinks Ben Cross and Brett White are Better than Brent Kite, (Or Hell, Josh Perry) picks nuff nuffs like Turner on the wing and thinks it's a good idea to go into a game with one genuine prop.

The game in question is S002. It has already been established that Lyon was available to play if chosen but Bellyache didnt pick him.

The League has no right to tell Lyons club anything in relation to this issue.

He should be commended. He is available if selected but is wavering in his commitment. Is honesty that bad a thing.I think Bellamy respected his honesty and gave him a free pass.If anything Bellyache overstepped his authority.
