Australia's next coach should be.....?

OK, so assuming Stuart gets the chop, who should Australia's next coach be?

Is there a Club coach that stands out? Should we do what Qld has done and appoint a Coach who has no Club ties and thus can focus solely on the Kangaroos? Or might this lack of involvement in Club football mean they don't have their finger on the pulse?

Or, should Stuart keep the position?

Once a few names get thrown out, I might make a poll.

Well, there's Bellamy, who whinges like Sticky. Graham Murray - England winning would be good for the game. Brian Smith - wonder how Petero would go at halfback. Bennet is a bit old to run through airport terminals, so he's out....

Stuff it. Make Heather captain-coach.

John Cartwright is a brilliant young coach, but i'd like to see us go with someone who is more a talking head for the media, because anyone could coach the kangaroos. Someone like Mal Meninga or even Wally Lewis would be good.

The three names that I suspect would pop as likely suspects would be Craig Bellamy, Des Hasler, and Mal Meninga. Personally, I'd pick Meninga.

I don't think either Origin coaches should be National coach, at least while they have the State position....

I don't think Origin coaches should hold an NRL position either. Meninga only coaches Qld three times a year and they are the winners from the past three seasons.

Why should the Australian coach be an NRL coach - nepotism will exist whoever coaches - but it may not be as blatant if the job is held by someone like Meninga.

Stuart had to give up the NSW post to coach Australia. I'd imagine that Meninga would have to make the same decision, if he wanted the job.

Personally, I think John Lang would make a fine Australian Rugby League Coach.

A man with dignity and class would be much better than the current disgrace.

So we are looking for a Test coach with no club or state commitments.

John Lang - an excellent choice.

A better choice by a smidgin - Phillip Gould. How good would the Kangaroos look under him?
